This is the page for our team. We are an award winning team who won MSHSAA Districts in 2011-2016, S We support the Missouri Quiz Bowl Alliance.

01/23/2022

Solid quiz bowl work by both Oakville teams today. The A team finished 8th out of 36 teams, Thomas finished 7th overall individually, and our two novice players scored their first toss up points. Thanks to North Point High for the experience!

On our first road quiz bowl tournament in almost two years, Oakville finished 8-2 and came in 4th out of 36 teams. Thomas came in 6th individually. Congrats to Palmyra for winning it all and thanks to Sullivan for hosting, it was great being back in person!

Congratulations to the Oakville Quiz Bowl team for winning the Class 6, District 1 championship today! The team was undefeated for the day, and Captain Hannah Franke, Mitchell Ashenbrenner, and Katie Seithel won individual awards and made the all state team. Oakville will face the winner of District 2 in Sectionals on April 27. Congrats to Jackson for their 2nd place finish and to all the teams for their hard play this crazy year!

We got to spend a rainy Saturday competing against some really great teams in the Patriots Academic Tournament. It was fun having two teams playing and seeing almost our whole team in person at the same time. Congrats to Katie for making the top 10 individual raking and Nathan for scoring in his first competition!

Neither rain, nor pandemic, nor computer sound issues could keep the OHS JV quiz bowl power duo of Thomas and Ethan from coming in second in the Notre Dame Invetational Saturday. It was our first virtual competition and thanks to Notre Dame for being brave and hosting. Hope more competitions become available in this format. Special congrats to Thomas for placing first individually, average 10.8 toss ups a game, almost twice as much as the second place winner. Good game all, looking forward to the next one!

Very nice day of quiz bowl with both our A and B teams finishing 9-2 and splitting their two head-to-head games. Hannah Franke was ranked individually, and everyone did a really good job of collaborating. Thanks to Sullivan for hosting!

Great day for the JV team. We had three teams compete in the Ladue Novice Tournament and our team of Abby, Carlie, Nathan and Thomas came in 2nd with Abby scoring 7th individually over all. Congrats to Clayton for their win. Great job everyone!

Two dedicated teams survived a long day of quiz bowl at Washington University today and still had energy for a game of tag on the way back to the bus! Great job by everyone!

The 2019-2020 Quiz Bowl season is official underway with the completion of the Oakville SCOP novice tournament. Our new players got a chance to experience real competition and our veterans did a great job staffing. Congrats to Sullivan A for winning the tournament, Oakville A for making the championship bracket and Thomas for his first individual medal. Thanks to all who helped staff, couldn’t do it without you!

Can’t believe school starts in two weeks! Time to get those quiz bowl brains warmed up. Save the date- our novice tournament will be held November 2 at OHS. More details coming soon.

School is officially out for the summer! We graduated 9 senior members of the team today. We are immensely proud of them and wish them all the best on their next adventures. We will miss them greatly. For the undergrads out there, enjoy the summer but be ready for the start of a new season of quiz bowl, you have big shoes to fill!

So our quiz bowl journey ended a little earlier than we wanted, so we did what all good teams do when they are in need of a pick me up, took the team out for ice cream. It’s been a great year and we will greatly miss our seniors, many of whom have been playing for all four years. We wish them all tons of success; the underclassmen have big shoes to fill!

Congrats to Poplar Bluff for their Sectional win and thanks for being a great host. Good luck at State!
