Oaks Corners Fire Department

Oaks Corners Fire Department Phelps is located in Ontario County, which is located about half way between the cities of Rochester and Syracuse along the New York State Thruway.

The Oaks Corners Fire Department is a 100% volunteer department that provides fire protection as well as rescue and EMS services to the eastern half of the town of Phelps, New York. We operate out of a single station and protect a population of about 3,000 residents over an area of 35 square miles. We also protect a 2.5 mile portion of the New York State Thruway and over 10 miles of railways. We p

rotect a primarily rural, residential area with some commercial and industrial occupancies as well. We have 70 members in the organization including 38 fire and EMS responders that respond to around 240 calls annually. Due to the fact that there is no municipal water supply in our fire district we have a current ISO rating of 4/4y. The Oaks Corners Fire Department provides emergency medical services in the form of BLS First Responders. We currently have 12 members who hold an EMS certification of Certified First Responder or higher. Our first responders respond to all medical calls within our fire protection district and provide patient care until a transporting ambulance can arrive on scene. The primary transporting ambulance service for our area is Phelps Ambulance Inc. Around 1999, our agency initiated a public access defibrilation program which has resulted in the training of most of our
firefighters in the use of our automated electronic defibrillators.

We would like commend and congratulate OCFD Vice-President Chris Tiffany on organizing another Red Knights Motorcycle Club Yankee Rally in Geneva this past week. In addition to the numerous duties he is responsible for in our fire department, he also serves as the President of the Finger Lakes chapter of the Red Knights. The Red Knights motorcycle club is a charitable organization whose members consist of current and former firefighters and their families. We have several Oaks Corners Fire Department members who are also members of the Red Knights.

The rain has left the area and vehicles are beginning to arrive. We have some fantastic raffle items, over 60 silent auction items, music, food, and a lot of really cool vehicles. Tomorrow is the big day! The Oaks Corners FD Car Show is a FREE event for the public and $20 if you want to register a vehicle. We have vendors, raffles, food and beverage, music, fire trucks, silent auction, some amazing vehicles and a great time. Only a slight chance of a shower during show time. Gates open at 8 and trophies at 1! We hope to see you there.

Oaks Corners Pumper/Tanker 3231 responding mutual aid with the Manchester FD as part of their Tanker Task Force-1 to a house fire yesterday. They delivered four loads of water during the operation. An additional crew of five remained on stand-by in our station with Engine 3211.

This is the week! The Oaks Corners Fire Department Annual Car Show is being held on Saturday at the Oaks Corners Community Park. This is a FREE event for the public. If you would like to display a vehicle there is a $20 registration fee payable upon arrival. Gates open at 8am with trophies being awarded at 1pm. The car show features the following...
* FREE spectator admission
* Vendors on display
* Door prizes for show participants
* Silent auction
* Raffle for Louisiana Pellet Grill (courtesy of Phelps Cement), 55" TV, and booze basket
