Proud to call him a friend.

There are two main qualities that stand out to most people about Dan Gilman: his deep, unending love for Pittsburgh and his unyielding commitment to public service.

Both are evident in the way he talks about his upcoming position as chief of staff for Mayor-elect Corey O’Connor.

“I’m the biggest believer in Pittsburgh you’ll find,” he said. “We have all the recipes to be the model of what a great American city looks like, and to serve with Mayor-elect O’Connor is the honor of a lifetime.”

Mr. Gilman joins Mr. O’Connor at the helm of a city in flux. They’re inheriting significant budgetary problems and an aging infrastructure.
