Good people, good conversations, and FAMILY! Today was soul food in every sense of the word!

BWOPA was OUTSIDE today! ✊🏾🗳️

We were proud to join Oakland Rising and community partners for the Resist to Exist Voting Block Party, celebrating community, civic engagement, and the power of our vote!

A special thank you to our First Vice President, Samia Zuber, for representing the BWOPA Oakland/Berkeley Chapter and engaging with our community!

And what a pleasure to connect with Oakland Mayor Barbara Lee, a longtime BWOPA sister and trailblazer whose leadership continues to inspire generations of Black women in politics. ❤️

With Election Day approaching, we're reminded that our work doesn't stop at encouraging people to vote. It's about making sure our communities are informed, connected, and empowered to participate.

Black women lead. Black women vote. And BWOPA shows up!

🗳️ BWOPA California Endorses YES on Proposition 3!

Strong schools, accessible healthcare, and essential public services are investments in the well-being of our families and communities.

Proposition 3 would maintain existing income tax rates on California's highest earners, helping sustain funding for public education, healthcare, and other critical services.

Why YES on 3?

✅ Protects funding for public schools and higher education

✅ Supports healthcare and essential public services

✅ Maintains existing tax rates rather than creating a new tax

At BWOPA, we believe our state budget should reflect our priorities and our commitment to creating opportunities for every community to thrive.

Danielle’s leadership has long reflected a commitment to public service, community voice, equity, and ensuring that people most impacted by policy and systems have a meaningful role in shaping them.

Her selection continues a tradition that BWOPA has championed for more than five decades: Black women bringing our leadership, lived experience, and expertise to the tables where decisions are made.
