Town of Oakland, Florida

Town of Oakland, Florida Established in 1887, Oakland is one of the oldest and most charming municipalities in Orange County.

A day spent in the Town of Oakland will take you back in time to the old, quaint Florida of yesterday - even as new residents begin to discover what just a few have known for generations. Due to growth in Orange County, maintaining Oakland’s small-town character as “Nestled Among the Oaks” has been one of its most difficult challenges – and greatest accomplishments. While new homes have been built

in Oakland over the last several years, Oakland remains a quaint, unhurried community not unlike it was in 1887, when the town was incorporated. Tree-lined roads are nostalgic reminders of an era when life was simple and everyone knew their neighbors.

Good reminders regarding roundabout safety.

🚗🚙🔘 Roundabout Safety 🔘🚙🚗
According to the Florida Department of Transportation, 44% of all traffic fatalities in Florida occur at conventional intersections. Roundabouts reduce fatal and severe injuries by 82% at intersections controlled by stop signs and 78% at intersections controlled by signal lights.

➡ Roundabout Advantages ⬅
🚗 30-50% increase in traffic capacity
💲 Cost saving - no equipment to install, maintain or power
👍 Advantageous to novice and older drivers

➡ Remember ⬅
✅ Watch for bicycles and pedestrians entering and exiting the roundabout, they have the right-of-way
✅ Traffic already in the circle has the right-of-way
✅ Enter the roundabout traveling to the right when safe to do so
