Last night, we had the joy of joining our partners at St. Mark’s AME Zion Church for a climate justice themed open mic at the Cooley Landing Education Center in East Palo Alto.
The evening brought together community members, artists, organizers, and people of faith to share stories, poetry, music, and reflections on the challenges and possibilities of building a more just and sustainable future. The event was co-sponsored by the Climate Resilient Communities, whose work continues to strengthen local leadership and resilience in communities on the frontlines of climate change.
Gatherings like these remind us that climate justice is about more than policy and technology. It is about people, relationships, culture, and collective hope. Through song, storytelling, and shared vision, we create spaces where communities can imagine a different future and build the power needed to make it real.
This is sacred work. It is the work of nurturing beloved community, honoring the wisdom of those most impacted, and transforming fear into solidarity and action. In a time of ecological crisis and deep inequality, coming together to listen, create, and organize is itself an act of resilience and faith. We are grateful to everyone who shared their gifts and helped make the evening such a powerful expression of community, justice, and hope.
