This June, students in our Always Reading program are taking on a challenge: read 30 books in 30 days ☀️📚

This is because reading routines matter...especially over summer break. When reading continues through the summer, children return to school more confident, prepared, and ready to keep learning.

30 Years of Stories That Inspire: A Golden Partnership with

We love a win-win situation and that’s exactly what our partnership with Aloha Shoyu has been over the years. When we first expanded to Hawai‘i in the early 2000s, Aloha Shoyu asked Kristi to help launch their Aloha Gold! product. As part of this partnership, a percentage of sales benefited Always Dream. To this day, Aloha Shoyu continues to be a steadfast partner. Mahalo nui loa for all of your support over the years, !

DID YOU KNOW? Nearly 60% of families experiencing poverty have no children’s books in the home. When school ends, that lack of book access can lead to the “summer slide." This is a loss of the reading skills, routine, and confidence children worked hard to build during the school year.

Take a look at this proud group of pre-K students from Pāhoa Elementary showing off their Always Reading completion certificates!

We first introduced Always Reading to pre-K and TK students during the 2021–22 school year, and it’s been inspiring to see the program continue to grow each year. These soon-to-be kindergarteners and their families will have the opportunity to continue their reading journey with us next year at Pāhoa.

We’re excited to spend another year fostering a love of reading and helping set these young learners up for success as they begin their educational journey.
