Thank you for the testimonials, emails, and feedback regarding MACRO and the community support many folks have received.
Just a reminder that MACRO is available 7 days/week, 6:30 a.m.–9:30 p.m. for eligible non-emergency, non-violent calls where there are no visible weapons and the situation is not inside a private residence or business.
Calls come to us through Oakland’s dispatch system, our direct line, and email, and requests are handled in the order they are received.
In 2025, MACRO teams responded to more than 7,300 incidents citywide and successfully resolved 97% of eligible calls through its augmented response model. These results demonstrate the potential for specialized responders to address community needs while allowing other emergency resources to remain available for higher-priority incidents.
MACRO now responds to thousands of calls each year and operates Citywide. If you contact MACRO and don’t see a team immediately, it does not necessarily mean your request was ignored. Response depends on eligibility, call volume, responder availability, safety considerations and the order in which requests are received. And because our interactions involve people’s privacy, we often cannot provide details about what happened after a call.
We’re committed to being accessible, responsive and transparent, and continuing to improve how Oakland connects people with the right response at the right time. If you'd like to find out more about MACRO and their latest reports, please visit OaklandCA.gov/MACRO
