Volunteer at a shoreline, creek, or neighborhood cleanup this Creek to Bay Day. Oakland’s shoreline is more than just a beautiful place to visit. It is also a vital habitat for birds, fish, and other wildlife. 🦆
Unfortunately, litter left on our shoreline can harm wildlife, pollute the water, and eventually make its way into the Bay and the Pacific Ocean.✨

Did you know Oakland is part of 8 watersheds? 🌊 Our town has 15 main creeks that keep water flowing from the Hills to the Bay. Our waterways are important for us but also provide habitat and drinking water for the animals that call Oakland home.

On Creek to Bay Day, volunteers across Oakland work together to preserve and beautify the Town’s waterways. 🙌

In 2025, across 38 event sites, 929 volunteers teamed up to remove 32,863 pounds of trash and 8,838 pounds of green waste 🌿 from our public spaces. Volunteers planted 458 native plants and cleaned up 86 square meters of graffiti.

Let’s take inspiration from last year’s wonderful volunteers and accomplish even more in 2026! With 45 event sites this year we can do it! Sign up to volunteer at https://na2.hubs.ly/H07qpJZ0

Our creeks are connected to Lake Merrit, the Oakland Estuary and the San Francisco Bay. 🌊

Anything left behind on our streets or in our waterways eventually make its way to the Bay and the ocean. By cleaning up our local creeks, we're protecting wildlife, improving water quality, and creating healthier neighborhoods for everyone. 🌿
