Every Vote Matters More Than You Think 🗳️
In a typical non-presidential primary election, only about one-third of Oakland voters participate. That means elections are often decided by a surprisingly small number of people.
That’s why it’s not enough to support an issue or candidate. We have to vote. And we have to make sure the people around us vote too.
Have you turned in your ballot yet?
If not, make a plan to do it today.
Then take five minutes to check in with the people in your life:
* Your friends
* Your family
* Your coworkers
* Your neighbors
* The group chat that never stops buzzing
Ask them a simple question: “Have you voted yet?”
Many people support the same things we do but get busy, forget, or assume their vote won’t matter. In low-turnout elections, that’s exactly what decides the outcome.
Don’t let someone who agrees with you sit this one out.
Vote. Then help three other people vote.
That’s how Oakland wins. That’s how democracy works. And that’s how a small group of committed people can have an outsized impact on the future of our city.
