📣 Oakland Homeowners: Don’t Miss Out on the Homestead Property Tax Credit!
If you own and live in your Oakland home as your principal residence, you may qualify for the Homestead Property Tax Credit — The credit protects you from sudden property tax spikes and you only have to apply once.
Your property tax bill is based on the assessed value of your home. The state determines the value and updates it every three years. When your home is reassessed at a higher value, the credit caps how much your taxable value can rise each year - a maximum of 2% for the county portion and 3% for the town portion. Your bill goes up gradually instead of all at once:

- You must apply for the credit with the state's Department of Assessments and Taxation.

The Facilities Laborer performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance, landscaping, and custodial tasks in support of the Town’s parks, recreational areas, and community facilities. This position assists in maintaining all Oakland facilities, including Broadford Park, Glades Park, the Mountain Fresh Pavilion, and the Oakland Community Center to ensure that facilities are safe, clean, and functional for daily use and public events.
The Laborer works under the direct supervision of the Supervisor of Facilities and may receive assignments from the Director of General Services or other department staff as needed.

Due to recent weather conditions causing construction delays, Broadford Park will be closed for the remainder of today as crews work to complete the necessary work safely and efficiently.

Attention residents! It’s time for our annual Spring Bulk Clean-Up 🧹
📅 Dates: April 27th – May 1st
🌷 During this time, the Town of Oakland will be collecting bulk items to help you clear out unwanted materials and freshen up your property for the season.
Please be sure to place your items at the curb in a neat and orderly manner at the earliest, the night prior to the scheduled pickup day.
Prohibited Items –
• Commercial Waste
• LIQUID waste
• Including containers of paint, batteries, propane tanks, large automobile parts
• YARD WASTE, BRUSH, STUMPS, and large quantities (over 100 pounds per household) of construction or demolition debris.
• Also prohibited for this event will be refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, or any other appliance with refrigerant.
Let’s work together to keep Oakland clean and beautiful this spring! 🌷

The Oakland Water Department is responding a water main leak on Woodland Drive. Customers in the area may be temporarily out of water this morning while repairs are made. When service is restored, temporary discoloration may occur when the lines repressurize. If you experience discoloration, run cold water to help flush it out.
