Glacier High School Charter

Glacier High School Charter Glacier High School Charter is a personalized learning charter school. August 19th, 2002 was the first day of student attendance with sixteen students enrolled.

Glacier was founded as a cooperative venture by parents of future students, teachers and two school administrators. Parents from Mountain Home Charter School (Mountain Home) desired to create a high school with a similar personalized learning program. Chartered through the Yosemite Unified School District, Glacier received final approval for operation from the State Board of Education in June 2002

. In 2006 we created a satellite campus in Kingsburg that currently has one full time teacher and an additional part time teacher. Today Glacier serves over 100 students with 5 full time teachers and several part time teachers. In 2008-09 Glacier and Mountain Home School joined together to form a non-profit educational entity called Western Sierra Charter Schools. Glacier serves as the only charter high school in the surrounding mountain area.

Today is a day of reflection. On September 11, 2001, 2,996 people died in a series of coordinated attacks on America. In the days/years that followed, 5,000 more people died from their injuries. Some of these injuries were the byproduct of toxic chemical exposure at Ground Zero--airborne debris.

It is a somber day of reflection. Yet, we are immensely proud of those who serve our country both at home and abroad. Their sacrificial acts of bravery preserve our nation.

Consider taking a moment to talk about this historical day with your family.

Glacier High School Charter will provide a LIVE virtual lottery drawing for the 2026-2027 school year for students in grades 9-12.

The 9-12th grade drawing will be on Thursday, September 10, at 9:00am.

For more information on our lottery policy, go to: http://www.wscsfamily.org/lottery.

This is only for new families who have not been officially enrolled for the 2026-2027 school year; this is not for our current families.

If you wish to be entered into the lottery, please contact us at: https://www.glacierhighcharter.org/contact no later than Wednesday, September 9, by 3:00pm.

If you have already attended one of our informational meetings this year, you should receive an email with your family lottery ID number from our registrar. If you have not already attended one of our informational meetings this year, we strongly recommend that you attend one of these informational meetings to learn how to get enrolled.

PLEASE NOTE: We will be drawing EVERY family ID number for the lottery for grades 9-12. Just because your family ID number was drawn, it does NOT mean that we have a spot for you in our school at this time. The lottery will place families in the order in which they will be offered spots with our school–as those spots become available.

We will post the results of the lottery by 6:00pm on our website the date of the drawing. We will highlight the numbers of those who are currently being offered a spot for the 2026-2027 school year.

Once again, our registrar will have sent you your family ID number by email; contact us if you have any questions.
