Congratulations to the 420 graduates of North High School’s 122nd graduating class!
It was an honor to attend last night’s commencement ceremony as a school board member and celebrate this incredible milestone alongside students, families, educators, and staff.
The Class of 2026 has much to be proud of. This year, 216 graduates earned college credit while still in high school, 48 earned AP credit, and 46 students achieved GPAs above 4.0.
I am also proud to share that ISD 622's official four-year graduation rate rose to 86.3%, up 3.5 percentage points from the previous year and above the state average.
I was especially impressed by the student speakers, Lily Dugger and Matthew Bono. Both delivered thoughtful and inspiring remarks that reflected the character, resilience, and determination of this graduating class. Matthew’s reflections on the challenges he and his classmates have overcome, including the loss of his sister to gun violence, were particularly moving and a reminder of the strength so many young people carry with them every day.
To every graduate, congratulations on your achievement. To every parent, guardian, family member, educator, and mentor who helped make this moment possible, thank you for your support and encouragement along the way.
The future is bright. Congratulations, North Class of 2026!
On to Tartan's graduation ceremony tonight! 🎓
