Congratulations to the 420 graduates of North High School’s 122nd graduating class!

It was an honor to attend last night’s commencement ceremony as a school board member and celebrate this incredible milestone alongside students, families, educators, and staff.

The Class of 2026 has much to be proud of. This year, 216 graduates earned college credit while still in high school, 48 earned AP credit, and 46 students achieved GPAs above 4.0.

I am also proud to share that ISD 622's official four-year graduation rate rose to 86.3%, up 3.5 percentage points from the previous year and above the state average.

I was especially impressed by the student speakers, Lily Dugger and Matthew Bono. Both delivered thoughtful and inspiring remarks that reflected the character, resilience, and determination of this graduating class. Matthew’s reflections on the challenges he and his classmates have overcome, including the loss of his sister to gun violence, were particularly moving and a reminder of the strength so many young people carry with them every day.

To every graduate, congratulations on your achievement. To every parent, guardian, family member, educator, and mentor who helped make this moment possible, thank you for your support and encouragement along the way.

The future is bright. Congratulations, North Class of 2026!

On to Tartan's graduation ceremony tonight! 🎓

Today is National Teacher Appreciation Day, and I want to take a moment to say thank you to the incredible educators in and outside of our district.

As a school board member and substitute teacher, I’ve seen firsthand just how demanding, complex, and deeply rewarding this work is. Every day, our teachers show up not just to educate, but to support, inspire, and care for our students.

We owe our teachers more than gratitude. We owe them action. I remain committed to fighting for the state and local funding and resources needed to ensure our educators feel supported and our students can thrive.

To all teachers: thank you for everything you do. Our schools and our community are stronger because of you!

ISD 622 is seeing energy savings in our budget due to our investment in diverse energy sources, like renewables. Join us at one of the opportunities to learn more! ☀️🔌

From e-buses to solar, 622 is being smart utilizing grant funding to help lower energy costs and emit less pollutants.

District 622 received a $673,000 grant from the Minnesota Department of Commerce Solar for Schools Program to install solar at Carver, Justice Alan Page, and Richardson Elementary Schools.

Join us in celebrating solar at:
Carver on Thursday, April 16, 4:30-5 p.m.
Justice Alan Page on Monday, April 27, 4:00-4:30 p.m.
Richardson on Monday, May 4, 4:30-5 p.m.

We are also working with Xcel Energy’s Solar Reward Program to add solar panels to ten additional Xcel-served buildings throughout the district over the next three years. Castle and Eagle Point are already actively using solar panels for renewable energy.
