Pennsylvania Hands‑Free Law Reminder

Pennsylvania’s Hands‑Free Law, known as Paul Miller’s Law, took effect on June 5, 2025. During the first year, warnings were issued.

Beginning June 6, 2026, violations may result in a citation with a $50 fine plus court costs and fees, often totaling $100 or more. The law prohibits holding or physically handling a mobile phone while driving, including while stopped in traffic or at traffic signals.

Hands‑free use through Bluetooth, mounted devices, or in‑vehicle systems is permitted. Emergency calls are allowed.

The North Fayette Police Department is proud to partner with the autism nonprofit 12 Months of April as a collection site for sensory kit donations. These kits help provide comfort, focus, and calming tools for individuals with autism when they need them most.

We are accepting new or gently used items such as fidget toys, stress balls, small sensory toys, noise-reducing headphones, mini puzzles, Pop Its, and other tactile items.

Donations can be dropped off at the North Fayette Police Department.

The North Fayette Police Department was out the past couple days helping community members sign up for Pennsylvania’s Yellow Dot Program.

On Monday we visited the LaFayette Square Senior Center, where 12 people signed up. Today we were at the North Fayette Community Center Senior Luncheon, where over 40 people participated.

Lt. John Walls and Cory Russi from the IT Department were on site helping people complete their information sheets and taking photos for their packets.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by and took part in the program.
