Having our own Behavioral Health Unit in Oakdale is a HUGE win for our community. With mental health call volumes steadily rising, it is important that we provide our community with the proper support for this growing need. Please be sure to welcome both our embedded social worker and her partner on the Oakdale PD!

It’s National Co-Responder and Crisis Responder Week! We are excited to introduce Oakdale’s newly-created Behavioral Health Unit (BHU) which will provide focused efforts to address the behavioral health needs of our community. Together, an Oakdale Police Officer and Washington County Licensed Clinical Social Worker will focus on supporting individuals experiencing behavioral health, mental health and substance use challenges. They will connect community members with services and resources specific to their needs and help ease the demand on 911 and law enforcement.

There are two opportunities this week to interact with the BHU! Stop by Dunkin' (1055 Helmo Avenue N) Tuesday from 9 to 11 AM for "Coffee with a Co-Responder" to meet the team. They will also be at the Farmers Market Wednesday at Walton Park (1584 Hadley Avenue N) beginning at 2 PM. We hope to see you there!

To learn more about the BHU, visit https://www.oakdalemn.gov/1081/Behavioral-Health-Unit

To seek assistance from the BHU, call 651-730-1025 or dial 911 for an emergency.

Due to prolonged dry weather, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has moved the St. Croix River basin, which includes Oakdale, into the Drought Warning Response Phase. Residents and businesses are encouraged to reduce non-essential water use. In an effort to conserve valuable water resources, please adhere to the City’s odd-even watering schedule. This means odd-numbered addresses can water on odd-numbered days, and even-numbered addresses can water on even-numbered days. Additionally, please refrain from watering between 10 AM and 5 PM when water demand is the greatest.

For more information on water conservation, visit https://www.dnr.state.mn.us/waters/watermgmt_section/appropriations/water-conservation-residents.html and https://www.ready.gov/drought

I am thrilled with the investments and upgrades we are making to Oakdale’s parks. Thank you to our City staff and Hannah Dunn for making this video to share where we are at with Tower and Golfview Parks with the public.
