A portion of the Emory Valley Greenway will be temporarily closed for a few days this week to allow crews to perform work on the South Columbia Drive overflow channel.
The section of the greenway between S. Columbia Dr. and Cascade Ln. will be closed from Wednesday, Sept. 2, through Friday, Sept. 4.
During the closure, dump trucks and heavy equipment will be entering and exiting the work area throughout the day on all three dates. For everyone's safety, the public is asked to avoid this stretch of the greenway and select an alternate route until work is complete.
The overflow channel helps prevent flooding the houses on Cypress Lane and drains to Melton Hill Lake.
The greenway is expected to reopen to normal use on Saturday morning, weather permitting.
The City of Oak Ridge appreciates the community's patience and cooperation while this important infrastructure work is completed.
