In the spirit of training this week, members from JTFD1 participated in our monthly RIC training drill this past Thursday evening. This drill's focus was on multiple RIC teams working in low visibility conditions to extricate a downed firefighter in an isolated location of a building.

Teams were given the mayday report and were activated to locate and begin extricating. The extrication involved breaching walls and using cutting tools to further breach the wall which contained steel reinforcing bars. Additional teams were utilized to aid in the removal of the firefighter once safely stabilizes to be removed.

Drills like this require a tremendous amount of communication between the teams, as well as communication with the Incident Commander. They also require extreme proficiency in the tools available to the teams to minimize the time required to extricate.

Today members of JTFD1 held a multi agency tanker shuttle drill. During this drill we had 2 draft sites set up for tankers to fill at. Using pumpers and suction devices in the lakes we pull water and feed the other trucks. Those tankers then traveled a specific route to the dump site that had 4 - 3,000 gallon pools set up to feed our ladder truck. Towards the end of the drill we were supplying two ladder trucks. 728 which is JTFD1 and 711 which os the stick for Jefferson Township Fire Company #2.
During the drill we moved over 117,000 gallons of water in the 3 hours of operational period. Roughly 80 plus dumps from the various tankers.

🚨🚨🚨🚨 Tomorrow Morning Saturday 8/22 from the hours of 8am-12pm JTFD1 will be conducting a tanker shuttle drill. This is just a training drill. Many tankers from out of town will be traveling along the Milton section of town. We will be using White Rock Lake and Preston Lake as draft sites. Tankers will be traveling down Ridge Rd. Russia Rd. Dover-Milton Rd. Berkshire Valley Rd, and Milton Rd. Please be aware of the heavy traffic during that time. It is not an emergency it is just training. 🚨🚨🚨

We would like to thank the community of White Rock and Preston Lake for always supporting our Fire department and using their lakes for training and fires.

Last night Jefferson Township Fire Company #1 held their monthly training drill.
At this drill Mid Atlantic Rescue Systems demonstrated their Res-Q-Jacks system.

Members were able to partake in the demo and have some hands on training with the struts.

Struts are a great resource to use for MVAs. Last night we had a car on its side and one on the roof.

It was a great demo for all. Thank you to Cory from the company for coming up and allowing us to demo the equipment.
