Memorial Day – May 25, 2026

Today, we honor the brave men and women of our armed forces who made the ultimate sacrifice defending our freedom. Their courage, devotion, and selflessness protect the rights we cherish and the peace we enjoy every day.

While we often think of barbecues and days off, let’s also remember the families who lost a hero, the teammates who lost a brother or sister, and the legacy left behind by those who never came home.

From all of us at the Oak Point Police Department, we salute our fallen service members. We stand grateful, we stand united, and we will never forget.

“Freedom is not free. It was paid for in full by the brave.”

This morning, Oak Point Police officers responded to a welfare concern call in the area of Re*****on Drive and Tonto Drive.

Upon arrival, officers contacted an individual who appeared to be experiencing a mental health crisis following a reported argument. Officers remained on scene, calmly engaging with the individual and working to de-escalate the situation.

After ensuring the individual’s safety and well-being, the subject was detained and transported to UBH under an Emergency Detention Order (EDO) for further evaluation.

This incident was resolved safely with no injuries. We appreciate the community’s support and encourage residents to continue reporting concerns so we can provide assistance when it is needed most.

During National Police Week, we pause to honor the men and women who put on the badge each day with courage, strength, and an unwavering commitment to serve others. Behind every uniform is a person willing to run toward danger while others run away — someone who sacrifices time with family, carries unseen burdens, and continues showing up for their community no matter how difficult the day may be.

This week is not only about recognizing service, but also remembering the officers who made the ultimate sacrifice and the families who carry that loss forever. Their bravery and dedication will never be forgotten.

To every officer, dispatcher, first responder, and law enforcement family: thank you for your sacrifice, your resilience, and your heart. Your work often goes unseen, but it never goes unappreciated. 💙

🌸 Happy Mother’s Day from the Oak Point Police Department! 🌸

Today we’re honoring the only people who can handle tantrums, negotiate peace treaties over vegetables, and still look amazing doing it… MOMS!

To the mothers in our community—and especially the police moms who chase bad guys by day and bedtime stories by night—you’re the real MVPs. You’ve got more patience than a dispatcher during a storm, more strength than a K-9 on a scent, and better negotiation skills than any hostage negotiator we know.

Thanks for raising good humans, keeping us in line, and reminding us that “because I said so” is still the ultimate authority.

From all of us at OPPD, we hope your day is filled with love, laughter, zero emergencies, and maybe even a quiet cup of coffee (we can dream, right?). ☕💐

🎉 Oak Point Police Department Earns the FBI-LEEDA Agency Trilogy Award! 🎉

We’re excited to share some great news with our community — the Oak Point Police Department has been recognized with the FBI-LEEDA Agency Trilogy Award!

This award is presented to agencies whose entire Command Staff has completed the full FBI-LEEDA Trilogy Leadership Series — an advanced set of leadership courses designed to strengthen our skills, communication, and commitment to service. The Trilogy includes the Supervisor Leadership Institute (SLI), Command Leadership Institute (CLI), and Executive Leadership Institute (ELI), each building on the other to create strong, capable, and compassionate leaders.

At its core, this training emphasizes “the leadership journey”—encouraging law enforcement leaders to approach their work with purpose, courage, and continuous growth. For us, this means better teamwork, thoughtful decision-making, and even stronger relationships with the Oak Point community we proudly serve.

We believe great leadership leads to great service, and this accomplishment is a reflection of our department’s commitment to excellence at every level.

Thank you, Oak Point, for your trust and support as we continue to grow, learn, and lead together. 💙
