“Affordable housing for all who need it”… that’s the goal!

The Housing Authority of Cook County (HACC) has opened its site-based wait list for one-, two-, and three-bedroom project-based voucher (PBV) units at the Union Apartments, an affordable housing community for families, located at 231 Wheeling Road, Wheeling IL 60090. The PBV Program is a rental assistance program where the resident pays 30% of his/her income towards the rent.

Applications must be submitted electronically through the website; no other form of application will be accepted. The wait list will close at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 3, 2023. Applicants will be placed on the wait list by a randomized lottery.

With a 2022 homeownership rate of 45.3% for Black households and 74.6% for White households (a 29 percent gap), the gap in ownership rates between Black and White households is wider today compared to the 1960s (a 27 point gap).
