For many families, summer break is a season of flexibility and opportunity. But for some, particularly those who may be navigating mental health challenges, the end of the school year can disrupt the routines, relationships, and support systems that help them feel safe.

Our latest blog explores why summer can be a vulnerable time for youth mental health and highlights NAMI Metro Suburbanโ€™s resources available to help families navigate the transition.

From teen-focused support at The Loft at Eight Corners to family-centered programs like our Family Support Group, NAMI Metro Suburban is here to provide guidance, connection, and hope all summer long.

When a mental health crisis happens, many families believe the emergency department is their only option, but mental health emergencies require a different kind of response.

NAMI Metro Suburban's Living Rooms provide free, compassionate crisis support in welcoming, non-clinical environments designed specifically for individuals experiencing emotional distress, mental health challenges, or overwhelming life circumstances.

With 24/7 locations in La Grange and Summit, and access available daily from 12-8 PM in Oak Park, help is available when itโ€™s needed most.

Our latest blog explores how crisis intervention works, when to seek support, and why community-based alternatives can make all the difference.

Building Compassion Resilience
Presented by Trina Bockus, Certified Family Peer Specialist, NAMI Metro Suburban

Compassion Resilience is a way to think about compassion at work as a resource that we can add to with our actions. This presentation helps those who care for others in their work learn how they can sustain their own mental and physical wellbeing while also providing compassionate care to their clients. We'll discuss which intentional self-care activities can actually help us build compassion resilience and create a personalized self-care plan.
