🌱🌞 Join Us This June at BEAT Roots! 🌞🌱

Looking for a meaningful way to connect with your community, spend time outdoors, and help our gardens grow? Come be part of BEAT Roots, an intergenerational community gardening program where people of all ages come together to plant, learn, create, and build friendships! 🌿💚

Every Thursday, participants help care for vegetable and native garden beds while enjoying hands-on activities, creative projects, and community connection.

✨ Upcoming Events:
🌱 June 11 — Sign & rock painting, native plant giveaway & planting (9:30–11 AM)
🌿 June 18 — Garden Work Day: plant, water & w**d the beds (4:30–6 PM)
☀️ June 20 — Solstice Celebration with music, fairy houses & more! (3–5 PM)
🌻 June 25 — Garden Work Day (9:30–11 AM)

We’re also looking for interns and volunteers to help organize and spread the word about our events!

Whether you’re an experienced gardener or just curious to learn, everyone is welcome. Come cultivate plants, friendships, and community with us this summer! 🌼

🌱☀️ Join Us in the Garden This Summer! ☀️🌱

Beat Roots is excited to welcome families, students, neighbors, and community members of all ages to our intergenerational summer garden program at the Brooks Middle School Garden in Oak Park!

Every Thursday throughout the summer, we’ll gather to help care for the garden through planting, watering, w**ding, and harvesting — plus enjoy fun hands-on activities like rock painting, garden stepping stones, salve making, and more.

We’ll also be hosting THREE special Saturday events for the whole family:
🌻 Solstice Celebration – June 20
🦋 Pollinator-palooza – July 25
🥕 Harvest Banquet – August 22

Whether you have a green thumb or have never gardened before, everyone is welcome! Come connect with neighbors, spend time outdoors, learn new skills, and help grow something beautiful together.

The 8th Grade Glow Dance is happening on Thursday, May 28 from 6:00–8:00 PM and we still need volunteers to help make the night a success!

🚨 General chaperones are needed most! 🚨

📚🦅 THANK YOU, BROOKS FAMILIES! 🦅📚

As our in-person Scholastic Book Fair comes to a close, the PTO would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make this event such a success.

A very special thank you goes to **Sally**, our Book Fair Chair, whose countless hours of planning, organizing, coordinating volunteers, and keeping everything running smoothly made this event possible. We are incredibly grateful for your dedication and leadership!

We would also like to thank all of our amazing volunteers who gave their time throughout the week. Whether you helped set up, worked a shift, assisted students, restocked books, or cleaned up afterward, your support made a difference for our students and school community.

And of course, thank you to every family who shopped, donated through Share the Fair, funded an eWallet, or supported the fair in any way. Your purchases help support programs and opportunities for our students while fostering a love of reading.

Our Book Fair is in full swing, and we still have volunteer openings available multiple days from 9:00 AM to 7:30 PM!

⏰ Time slots are just 1 hour long
📖 Volunteers are welcome to sign up for more than one slot!
🙌 Every shift helps make the fair amazing for our students!
