AgeOptions AgeOptions is a nonprofit organization connecting older adults and their caregivers with resources and services.

Older adults, people with disabilities and those who care for them look to AgeOptions to identify resources and options that honor their goal of living their lives to the fullest. With a network of partner organizations, we ensure that older adults and people with disabilities in suburban Cook County maintain access to vital services such as in-home assistance and adult day services, nutrition and health care programs, as well as respite and other services for caregivers.

The budget is still being considered, and older adults across Illinois are counting on lawmakers to get this right. Our President & CEO Diane Slezak, alongside fellow Area Agency on Aging leaders and members of the Illinois General Assembly, is calling on the state to invest $10 million more in Home-Delivered Meals in the FY2027 budget.

As food costs rise and waitlists grow, this funding isn't a luxury. It's a lifeline that helps older adults stay healthy, independent, and connected in their own homes.

Our President & CEO Diane Slezak joined Senate Majority Leader Kimberly Lightford and ABC 7 Chicago’s Tanja Babich ABC7 to discuss the growing need for increased support for older adults across Illinois.

As grocery prices continue to rise, more older adults are being forced to rely on SNAP benefits and food assistance programs like the Home Delivered Meals Program just to make ends meet.

At AgeOptions, we remain committed to advocating for stronger investments in services like Home Delivered Meals that help older adults live safely, independently, and with dignity.
