The Oak Park-River Forest Community Foundation provides community funding, philanthropic leadership, fund management and connections with resources outside the community. We support nonprofit excellence with technical assistance and training for nonprofits.

Last Thursday, Kiwanis hosted The Great Kiwanis Peanut Jam at Robert’s Westside, and what a community-driven success it was. We loved seeing everyone come together to celebrate Kiwanis and the spirit of giving. Thank you to Grants Manager Anne Sullivan for capturing the moments we’ll be proud to share.

Please join us in welcoming our new finance director, Daniela Bovio! She joins us from the Oak Park-based nonprofit Women’s Global Education Project, where she served as finance manager for nearly 13 years. As an Oak Parker, Daniela shares, “What attracted me to the Foundation is how close and how palpable it is — you can see the results of the work in your backyard.”

Last Thursday, we shared a heartfelt retirement goodbye with our friend Cathy Craddock, Administrative Assistant at the OPRF Community Foundation for the past 20 years. Over two decades, she witnessed countless changes in leadership and helped bring stability through every transition. At Lou Malantis, we celebrated with Cathy’s family, friends, and our Foundation team, honoring the steady support, thoughtful perspective, and genuine care she brought to our work every day. Thank you, Cathy, for the endless hand, heart, and guidance you provided. Your legacy will be engraved in the Foundation’s history❣️

The Foundation is pleased to introduce Jesse to the Board of Directors!

Jesse Eaves is senior director for the peacebuilding team at Humanity United, a private US-based foundation focused on human rights and peacebuilding around the world. Eaves spent parts of his childhood in the Philippines and Uganda watching his parents take part in community building projects, and as an adult has worked extensively in sub-Saharan Africa, Southeast Asia, and Eastern Europe on issues ranging from human trafficking and child exploitation to youth-led conflict transformation. He previously served as a senior policy advisor for child protection at World Vision and other organizations dedicated to fighting child labor, trafficking, and exploitation. He holds a Master’s degree from Northwestern University, and lives in River Forest with his wife and three children.

The Foundation is excited to welcome our new Program Director, Samantha Siers! Samantha brings extensive programmatic, philanthropic, and development experience to the Foundation. She started her career as a teacher, and through teaching at a school that ran a community center, fell in love with nonprofits. She has designed capacity-building and grantmaking programs and led community-building programs for University of Chicago students, where she also studied and was selected as an Obama Scholar.

Prior to joining the Foundation, she worked as a Senior Giving Officer with Wayfarer Pathways, where she designed the grantmaking infrastructure for a national $25M philanthropic entity focused on addressing racism and empowering women and girls in Black, Indigenous, and Immigrant communities.

Samantha lives in Oak Park with her husband and two children. She enjoys working out at Orange Theory OP, gardening, and loves taking long walks through the community, finding new routes to explore!
