The Sward Elementary School Chorus participated in Oak Lawn's Remembrance Ceremony, honoring the heroes who served our country on September 11, 2001, and commemorating the 25th anniversary of that day. Students also took a moment to reflect by the school's Remembrance Tree, planted in 2001 and continues to serve as a special reminder to remember, honor, and never forget.

Learning can happen everywhere! Ms. Dow's class at Covington brought their math lesson outside, giving students an opportunity to practice multiplication facts with chalk while having the flexibility to move around and have fun. Moving the classroom outdoors for a moment can help students redirect their attention and better focus their mind for the rest of the school day while also enjoying the beautiful fresh air.

There’s something special about seeing our learning community at the D123 Early Learning Center come together beyond the classroom. Whether playing alongside your child, chatting with teachers, or connecting with other families, these moments help us build strong relationships, a sense of belonging, and a true feeling of community. The ELC's Stay-n-Play family events present the perfect opportunity to play, connect, and grow together!

At Kolmar Elementary, 5th graders are building math fluency through a simple card game! While playing "Top It," students flip two cards at the same time, quickly multiply the numbers together, and determine who has the higher product to win. This practice encourages number sense and a better recall of the times table, going beyond standard memorization. To "top it," it's also fun!

Before the start of the school year, District 123 launched its First-Year Paraprofessional Support Network, a model dedicated to continuous peer support and professional growth. The first of a series of workshops, led by D123 Director of Special Education Leigh Coradetti, welcomed paraprofessionals and discussed routines, accommodations, and communication. This network will continue to meet throughout the school year with dedicated workshops, safety training, and listening sessions to ensure D123 paraprofessionals are equipped with the proper resources and support for continued success in the classroom.
