STREET CLOSURE THIS MONDAY: SE Barrington CLOSED, Ely to Dock.
This coming Monday, September 14, SE Barrington Ave from Ely to Dock will be closed to allow for SRV Construction to replace a sewer main. The closure will remain in effect until the work is complete.
This is the first work item for our federally funded Inflow & Infiltration Project.

For worker and public safety, residents should obey traffic control in place and areas posted with no parking. Be prepared for short delays and take alternate routes. Detours will be in place for alternate routes and for access to Island Thrift.
Thank you for your patience during this time.

TOMORROW MORNING - The 25th Anniversary Remembrance Ceremony
As we mark the 25th Anniversary of September 11, 2001, your local first responders will honor the memory of the 2,977 lives tragically lost by carrying a special 9/11 Remembrance Flag across Whidbey Island.
After the ceremony at 8:30 a.m, the ceremonial run will begin at Windjammer Park in Oak Harbor, immediately following the ceremony, and continue across the island in a show of unity and remembrance, concluding at South Whidbey Fire. Along the route, you will see firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, and other first responders wearing these commemorative shirts as they run in tribute to the victims, their families, and the heroes who answered the call that day.

FLAG LOWERING - September 11, 2026 (Patriot Day)
Patriot Day is a day in which we show our respect for those who lost their lives as well as honor the brave men and women who were injured on September 11th, 2001.
Flags are to be flown at half-staff on all buildings, grounds, by all people of the United States, and naval vessels throughout the United States, and in all areas under its jurisdiction and control on Friday, September 11th, 2026 from dawn until dusk.
Many also observe a moment of silence at 8:46 AM (Eastern Daylight Time) which marks the time that the first plane flew into the World Trade Center.
