📢June is World Elder Abuse Awareness Month - Sharing Tips to Avoid Scams...

🚨 Stay Safe on Facebook & Messenger! 🚨
Scammers are getting sneakier, and one of their favorite tricks is sending suspicious or unexpected links. Clicking these can lead to stolen personal info, hacked accounts, or even malware on your device. 😱

Here’s why you should NEVER click on sketchy links:
🔐 Phishing Scams – Fake login pages can steal your password or financial info.
💻 Malware – Some links install harmful software that can spy on you or take over your device.
👥 Account Takeover – If they get into your account, they can message your friends with the same scam!

How to protect yourself:
✅ Verify the source – Even if it looks like it’s from a friend, double-check through another message or call.
🔍 Check the URL – Hover over the link. Real Facebook links start with https://www.facebook.com or https://meta.com.
🔐 Turn on Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) – Adds an extra layer of security to your account.
🧘 Don’t panic – Scammers love using scare tactics like “click now or your account will be deleted.” Stay calm and think before you click.
🚩 Report suspicious messages or posts – Help stop the spread by reporting them to Facebook.

Accidentally clicked something?
🔁 Change your password ASAP
🛡️ Run an antivirus scan
🔧 Use Facebook’s security checkup tool to secure your account

Stay smart, stay safe, and share this to help protect your friends too! 💙

📢June is World Elder Abuse Awareness Month - Sharing Tips to Avoid Scams...

🕵️‍♀️ Are You a Money Mule? 🕵️‍♀️

Criminals use “money mules” to move stolen money — often without them realizing it.
If someone asks you to receive or send money for them, don’t do it.
🚫 Don’t share your bank info.
🚫 Don’t open accounts for others.
🚫 Don’t agree to transfer money for anyone.

Being a money mule is a crime, even if you didn’t know.

📢June is World Elder Abuse Awareness Month - Sharing Tips to Avoid Scams...

💼 “Secret Shopper” or Secret Scam? 💼

Be careful of fake job offers that sound too good to be true!
If you’re told to:
⚠️ Deposit a check and send some money back
⚠️ “Test” a store or money transfer service
⚠️ Earn quick cash for little work

…it’s a scam. The check will bounce, and you’ll lose your own money.

📢June is World Elder Abuse Awareness Month - Sharing Tips to avoid Scams...

🎁 “You Won!” or Did You? 🎁

Did you get a message saying you’ve won a lottery or prize, but need to send money for “taxes” or “fees”?

🚫 That’s a scam!
Real prizes never require payment upfront. Don’t send money — hang up or delete the message.
