September 11 - 25th Anniversary Remembrance Ceremony
As we mark the 25th Anniversary of September 11, 2001, your local first responders will honor the memory of the 2,977 lives tragically lost by carrying a special 9/11 Remembrance Flag across Whidbey Island.
The run will begin at Windjammer Park in Oak Harbor, immediately following the community remembrance ceremony, and continue across the island in a show of unity and remembrance, concluding at South Whidbey Fire. Along the route, you will see firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, and other first responders wearing these commemorative shirts as they run in tribute to the victims, their families, and the heroes who answered the call that day.

ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE:
This evening, (August 6th at 8 pm), contractors working for Cascade Natural Gas will return to this area to install permanent markings and striping for the portions of the roadway that have received their permanent restoration.
This work should be completed prior to the start of the business day, Friday, August 7th.
Temporary traffic controls for flagging operations to ensure crew safety will be in place, but it is not anticipated that a full closure or shutdown of roadways or modifications of signals will be needed.

UPDATE MONDAY, May 4: SE Midway Blvd is open. We appreciate your patience
ROAD CLOSURE EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY:
Northbound lane closed from SE 9th and Midway to SE 8th by Hilltop Texaco due to public safety concerns.
The road will be closed now through Monday, May 4 to allow for the removal of the Hilltop Auto Service sign from an overnight auto accident.
Hilltop Texaco is open until 5pm today and closed tomorrow.
We will keep you posted if the closure extends past Monday.
