Troops from Western Washington are now actively involved in the U.S. military operation against Iran.

The Navy released photos over the weekend showing EA-18G Growlers from Naval Air Station Whidbey Island launching from the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln. The jets are part of Electronic Attack Squadron 133, known as the “Wizards,” and are flying combat support missions as part of Operation Epic Fury.

With profound sadness and a solemn, enduring reverence, we pause to remember the 1,177 brave souls who found their final, eternal resting place aboard the USS Arizona on that devastating day in Pearl Harbor. Their final act was one of unfathomable courage. In a moment of sudden, blinding violence, as a single, catastrophic strike breached the forward magazine, these men faced the ultimate test. They did not waver. They stood their post with unyielding heroism, embodying the highest ideal of duty and sacrifice.🕊️🇺🇸⚓

Their loss was a staggering blow, nearly half of all who fell on that day, yet their legacy is not defined by tragedy, but by the resounding echo of their bravery. They are the silent, enduring sentinels beneath the waves, their submerged vessel a sacred crypt and an unforgettable monument to their valor.

Let us hold their memory as a perpetual flame. Their sacrifice was the price of freedom, their story a poetic testament to the depth of human courage. Though the years pass, the Arizona remains, and so too does the enduring gratitude for the men who gave their last full measure of devotion.
