In accordance with an order issued by President Donald J. Trump, the United States flag shall be flown at half-staff in honor and remembrance of Dolly Parton, the legendary American singer, songwriter, actress, philanthropist, and humanitarian.
Dolly Parton passed away on August 25, 2026, at the age of 80. Her extraordinary career and lifelong commitment to music, education, literacy, and charitable causes touched the lives of millions of Americans and people around the world.
As a mark of respect for her remarkable life and enduring contributions to American culture, all appropriate flags shall be lowered to half-staff beginning 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, and shall remain at half-staff through sunset on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, pursuant to the President's proclamation.
Members of the public are encouraged to join in this solemn observance and to reflect upon the extraordinary legacy of Dolly Parton.
