October 2026 Friday VLC Meeting Schedule

10/9/26 → “Open Forum” VLC from 11:00am - noon ET// 10:00 - 11:00am CT // 9:00-10:00am MT // 8:00-9:00am PT; The open forum VLC typically meets on the 2nd Friday of each month, and is a chance to discuss any ET-related topics you wish and network with other members of AET. Facilitated by Sharon Barkan & Bonnie Massimino.

10/9/26 → “Research-to-Practice” VLC from 12:00 - 1:30pm ET // 11:00am - 12:30pm CT // 10:00am -11:30am MT // 9:00 - 10:30am PT. The Research-to-Practice VLC is a facilitated discussion related to a broad topic of interest to ETs. The group facilitators will share open-access articles and 1-2 professional book suggestions related to chosen nuances/subtopics of the broader topic, and our discussion will focus on ways to bridge the gap betweenthe research and putting the information into our practice as ETs. Reading or books and/or articles is not required to participate in the discussions.

The Research-to-Practice VLC will typically be meeting on the 2nd Friday of each month. Facilitated by Mary Beth Burns & Bonnie Massimino.

10/31/26→ “ASD-focused” VLC from 11:00am - noon ET// 10:00 - 11:00am CT // 9:00-10:00am MT // 8:00-9:00am PT; Note the date change –this VLC typically meets on the 4th Friday of each month and focuses on topics related to working with clients on the Autism Spectrum. Facilitated by Diana Black Kennedy.

Note: From October - December our Research-to-Practice VLC discussion topic will be Reading Comprehension. If this topic is of interest to you, join one or more of our discussions focusing on related nuances/subtopics. Call for Proposals: Have You Ever Tried? — Research to Practice
One of AET's most popular conference traditions is back!

Have You Ever Tried? (HYET) is a fast-paced, engaging session where Educational Therapists share practical ideas that colleagues can immediately put into practice. Each presenter delivers an 18–20 minute mini-presentation highlighting a strategy, tool, activity, or approach that has been successful in their own practice.

This year's theme is: Research to Practice.

Have you read a research article, explored evidence-based literature, or learned about a cognitive science finding that changed the way you work with students? We'd love to hear how you translated that research into your everyday educational therapy practice.

We're looking for presentations that:

*Connect a research-based source to a practical instructional strategy or intervention.
*Demonstrate how the idea has been implemented with students.
*Provide colleagues with techniques they can begin using without extensive training or preparation.
*Include practical examples, lessons learned, and suggestions for implementation.

Whether you've adapted a writing strategy, executive functioning intervention, math approach, reading practice, language technique, or another evidence-based idea, your experience could inspire fellow ETs to bridge the gap between research and practice.

Please note: HYET presenters must be registered for the AET Annual Conference.
