It’s been many years since any of my children or even grandchildren have played ball with the Oak City Recreation department. But after seeing a post regarding the need for volunteers to help out in the concession stand, I couldn’t help but step forward. Tuesday I witnessed the hard work that several of the parents have put in to this program.
It’s obvious it’s hard work and they themselves have had to miss their own children play ball in order to keep the concession stand and ball field going.

I want to express my sincere thanks for your efforts. Your hard work has not gone unnoticed.
I want to encourage you to volunteer when available to help keep this program going.

Oak City Fire-EMS Department

I would like to personally acknowledge Ricky, Kevin, and the entire Oak City Fire & Rescue/EMT team for their quick response yesterday to the bus accident. Their professionalism, compassion, and caring spirit truly showed and could be felt by everyone around them.
Yesterday was my first time seeing them in action, and when I tell you they were absolutely remarkable, I mean it from the bottom of my heart. In a moment that could have been filled with fear and chaos, they showed calmness, kindness, and dedication to our community.
It made me so proud and grateful to live in a community like ours. Oak City is blessed with some truly amazing people who genuinely care for others. Thank you all for what you do every single day. ❣️. Abby Mason
