The rainfall closure has been lifted, and Sengekontacket Pond is once again OPEN to shellfishing. Happy harvesting! 🦪

Lagoon Pond's deterioration in recent years is concerning to its stewards, who see it as part of a complex web of interrelated phenomena both above and below the waterline that put the pond’s health in jeopardy.

ATTENTION ALL SHELLFISH LOVERS: Come join the OB Shellfish team dig and relay Quahogs to Sengekontacket on Nov 1st!
This event is named in honor of Fred(rick) Huss, who passed earlier this year. A longtime member of the OB Shellfish committee and passionate shellfish advocate, Mr. Huss Served the Town since 2009.

All volunteers are welcome to come dig quahogs out of sunset lake and help us to transplant into Sengekontacket the same day. Learn about the life cycle of Quahogs and why relays like this are important. Come for 30 mins or stay all day!

* A limited number of Shellfishing equipment will be available on hand but volunteers are encouraged to bring their own rakes and waders.
