O'Fallon Fire Department

O'Fallon Fire Department O'Fallon Fire Department is organized to provide a highly trained, rapid response fire rescue service Clair Townships.

Since 1891 the O’Fallon Fire Department has been providing protection to the citizens of O’Fallon and the surrounding areas including the Village of Shiloh and the rural areas of the O'Fallon, Shiloh Valley, Caseyville, and St. This 44 square mile district is covered by 4 stations, 45 dedicated and highly trained volunteers, and 17 pieces of apparatus. Fire prevention and community service are cor

nerstones of our department and we utilize any opportunity we can to educate the public on ways to stay safe. Fire extinguisher training, smoke detector installation for the elderly, fire prevention assemblies for school children along with community service events such as 3 days of open house in the autumn and support at a wide array of veteran and active military events are just a few of the ways we interact with, educate and support the community.

Community Risk Reduction work matters, but measuring the impact of that work is not always easy.

Firedesk is providing access at no cost to help Sara Stockstrom, Fire & Life Safety Educator and Fire Fighter with the O'Fallon Fire Department, track and report on the effectiveness of their safety programs in the O’Fallon, Illinois school districts.

Using Firedesk’s new boundary drawing system, Sara has defined specific school districts, neighborhoods, or target areas and reviews department responses within those boundaries over time.

That makes it easier to answer questions like:

Where are we focusing prevention efforts?
Are smoke alarm and education programs reducing incidents in those areas?
What changed year over year?
How do we clearly report that impact?

This is exactly the kind of real fire-service problem Firedesk was built to help solve.

Not just incident reports.
Not just truck checks.
Not just compliance.

The everyday operational work that makes departments stronger and communities safer.

Thank you to Sara and O'Fallon Fire Department for letting Firedesk support this important work.

September is National Sickle Cell Awareness Month—a time to shine a light on sickle cell disease and the impact blood donations can have on those living with this inherited red blood disorder.

Why Sickle Cell Awareness Matters:
• It is estimated that about 1 in 13 Black or African American babies in the U.S. is born with sickle cell trait, and 1 in 365 are affected by sickle cell disease.
• Individuals with sickle cell disease may require up to 100 units of blood each year.
• Awareness helps reduce stigma, strengthen advocacy and build a supportive community.

The Red Cross needs more African American donors. Please visit www.redcrossblood.org and type in your zip code to find the nearest blood drive. Our next blood drive is December 4th. If you type OFallonfire you can sign up for ours.
