Become a Mentor!

Laverna Evans Elementary is partnering with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwestern Illinois to bring one-to-one mentoring to our students in 1st–5th grade. We’re looking for caring, dependable adults who want to make a difference in a student’s life through a simple, consistent commitment.

Mentors meet with their student one hour each week after school, right here at Laverna Evans Elementary. Time together can include talking, playing games, working on homework, doing crafts, or simply having fun and building a positive relationship.

You don’t have to be a superhero – you just have to show up. Your time and consistency can help a student build confidence, feel supported, and know they have someone in their corner.

Cheer Like Cambree, alongside a few amazing staff members at OTHS, is organizing a dress drive just in time for Homecoming! 💃✨

We believe every student deserves the chance to feel beautiful, confident, and included on such a special night. No student should miss out on Homecoming because they don’t have a dress. 💙

We are collecting gently used formal dresses in ALL sizes and styles. If you have a dress hanging in your closet that you no longer need, please consider donating it and helping another student make a special Homecoming memory! 🥰
