O'Fallon Fire would like to recognize the outstanding young men and women who are finishing the classroom portion of the O’Fallon Fire Protection District Junior Firefighter Academy.
Over the past several weeks, these students have dedicated their time to learning the fundamentals of the fire service, including fire behavior, safety, equipment, teamwork, and emergency response. Their hard work, professionalism, and commitment have been impressive to watch.
This program gives young people interested in the fire service the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge and hands-on experience while building leadership skills and confidence for the future.
We are proud of each of these students. Congratulations on reaching this milestone!

Pool season is one of the best parts of summer, especially when the kids are having fun.

When everyone is swimming and splashing, having an adult focused on the water can make a big difference. It also helps to keep a phone and rescue gear nearby, talk through pool rules before the day gets busy, and secure pool access when swim time is over.

A few simple habits can help make pool days safer and more enjoyable all summer long.

Memorial Day weekend and backyard cookouts go hand in hand.

Before the grill gets going, a quick look around can help the day run smoothly. Open the grill before lighting, give it some space from the house, deck railings and low branches, and check propane connections before cooking.

While the food is cooking, long-handled tools and separate plates for raw meat and ready-to-eat foods can help keep things safer from the grill to the table.

Great food, good company and a little safety make for a pretty perfect cookout. 🍔

Backyard evenings are hard to beat. A little time around the grill or fire pit can be a great way to enjoy the start of summer.

As you get settled in, it helps to give grills and fire pits plenty of room from the house, deck railings, fences and anything that can burn. Keeping an eye on the flames, giving kids and pets some space, and having water or an extinguisher nearby can help keep the evening relaxed and safe.

Enjoy the evening and stay fire safe.
