Commissioner Mauro G. Tucci Kicks Off Family-Friendly Summer Concert Series with Little Mermen & Princess Pals at Glotzbach Park

Get ready for an enchanted evening of music, memories, and family fun as our Summer Concert Series Kicks off on Wednesday, May 27 from 7:00 PM–9:00 PM at Glotzbach Park with a special performance by Little Mermen & Princess Pals.

Widely regarded as one of the most original and unique tribute bands to hit the stage in years, Little Mermen & Princess Pals think completely outside the box by bringing beloved songs to life for audiences of all ages. Whether you grew up watching the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse or your children have worn out the Frozen anthem “Let It Go,” the group is sure to capture your heart and warm your soul.

“Summer concerts are about bringing families and community together and creating memories that last long after the music ends,” said Commissioner Tucci. “Little Mermen & Princess Pals offer something truly special with a performance that connects generations through songs everyone knows and loves. We’re excited to welcome the community to a magical night at Glotzbach Park.”

Families are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy an unforgettable evening under the stars filled with music, dancing, and community spirit.

Commissioner Mauro G. Tucci Announces Travel Soccer Tryout Dates
Nutley United Travel Soccer is the travel division of the soccer program offered by the Nutley Parks & Recreation Department directed by Commissioner Mauro G. Tucci. Teams play in the very competitive Northern Counties Soccer Association against towns in Northern NJ and Lower NY State. The travel soccer program offers a high level of instruction by professional trainers and experienced coaches who are licensed by the NJ Youth Soccer Association. Applicants are required to pre-register by the deadline of April 30, 2026. All applicants must attend tryouts.

Tryout Schedule:
TRY OUT Tuesday & Thursday, April 28 and April 30.
Attendance is mandatory!

U8 and U9 Boys and Girls 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM
U10 and U11 Boys and Girls 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM
U12, U13, U14, & U15 Boys and Girls 8:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Flashlight Egg Hunt Rescheduled to Saturday, April 4

Due to weather and field conditions, the Flashlight Egg Hunt originally scheduled for tonight, Thursday, April 2, has been rescheduled. The event will now take place on Saturday, April 4, at its originally planned time and location.

We appreciate the community’s understanding and flexibility, and we look forward to a fun and exciting evening for all participants. Be sure to bring your flashlights and baskets as we light up the night in search of eggs!

Cheering Registration Forms Now Being Accepted For 2026 Season

Commissioner Mauro G. Tucci and the Nutley Department of Parks and Recreation are preparing for another season of Recreation Sports. Cheerleading applications are currently being accepted at the Recreation Department, located at 44 Park Ave. Practice will begin mid to late summer for the Cheerleading Program.

This program is open to Nutley youngsters in grades 3 through 8 as of September 2026. Our programs are designed to provide youth with a positive youth sports experience. We do this by emphasizing learning the sport, sportsmanship and an equal opportunity to participate. “We offer a variety of programs year-round that encourage the development of positive attitudes while focusing on teamwork,” stated Commissioner Tucci. Recreation Cheering is a great way for young ladies to express themselves while being taught team unity, basic dance techniques, and good sportsmanship. Curriculum includes body moves, dexterity development and the coordination of extremities.

The goal of the Recreation Department is to provide activities that increase each child's self-confidence and respect for self and others while establishing and maintaining a fitness level that encourages life-long habits to promote good health. “Cheerleading is an important element in our sports programs, encouraging the crowd to show community spirit and support the playing teams efforts,” stated Commissioner Tucci.

The fee for this program will be $60.00 per child with a deadline of June 12, 2026. No registrations will be accepted after the final deadline.

TACKLE FOOTBALL REGISTRATION DATES SCHEDULED
Commissioner Mauro G. Tucci and the Department of Parks and
Recreation have announced that Tackle Football Early Bird Registration will be held on April 15, 2026 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Parks and Recreation, 44 Park Ave, in person. The fee for early registration will be $220.00 per player.

A second registration has been scheduled for May 20, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Parks and Recreation Department. All registrations received on or after May 21, 2025, is $245.00 per player. Please note that in person registration is mandatory for this program. All new players will need to supply a copy of their birth certificate at the time of registration. All players are also required to supply a doctor’s approval note to play.

Football is a game of teamwork, discipline, determination and dedication. Football requires commitment to physical fitness, practice time, skill development, learning plays and game planning. Communication and teamwork are vital traits that will serve children well when they are teens and into adulthood, and football can be instrumental in developing these traits. The benefits of playing a team sport are endless and rewarding. So don’t wait!

Great Flashlight Egg Hunt for Grades 2 through 6 scheduled for Thursday, April 2nd

Commissioner Mauro G. Tucci is pleased to announce the Great Flashlight Egg Hunt! The Department of Parks and Recreation invites Nutley youngsters in grades 2 through 6 to bring your flashlight and your favorite Easter bag or basket and get ready for some fun! Over 3,000 candy-filled eggs will be scattered throughout Reinheimer Park for the great flashlight egg hunt. Reinheimer Park is located on Bloomfield Avenue across from the Recreation Annex Building. Children are asked to meet by the playground equipment to begin the festivities.

You are never too old to join in Easter traditions. Bring your friends for this exciting scavenger flashlight hunt. The date for this event will be Thursday, April 2, 2026. The egg hunt will begin at dusk, and a golden egg will be hidden, the lucky winner will receive a large chocolate- filled basket. Parents are encouraged to stay with the children during this event. A rain date has been scheduled for Saturday, April 4, 2026

Commissioner Tucci Invites Nutley Youngsters Ages 3 through 7 to
Hop Along For Some Easter Fun!

Commissioner Mauro G. Tucci and the Nutley Department of Parks and Recreation have scheduled an Easter Eggstravaganza for Nutley youngsters ages 3 through 7 to enjoy!

The Nutley Department of Parks and Recreation has scheduled the Easter Eggstravaganza for Saturday, April 4, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon. This event will take place at Glotzbach Park. Nutley Park Shoprite has co-sponsored this special event for our community to enjoy.

This event is open to Nutley residents only. Families are welcome to join us for a friendly farm zoo featuring goats, sheep, rabbits, chickens, ducks and more!! Bunny Tractor Rides, face painting and snacks will also be available for children to enjoy. Children will also be greeted by the Easter Bunny himself, who will be handing out candy filled Easter eggs. Don’t forget your camera to snap a picture with the Easter Bunny.

Commissioner Mauro G Tucci Announces Bounce Out the Stigma Basketball Program for Kids with Special Needs

Commissioner Mauro G. Tucci and Nutley Department of Parks and Recreation is proud to announce the return of its basketball program specifically designed for children with autism, ADHD, epilepsy, and mental/emotional challenges. The program aims to provide an inclusive, supportive, and engaging environment where children can develop their physical, social, and emotional skills through the fun and teamwork of basketball.

With a growing need for specialized recreational opportunities, Nutley Parks and Recreation recognizes the importance of providing all children, regardless of their abilities, with opportunities to stay active, build self-confidence, and experience the joy of sports. This new program is designed to be adaptable to meet the diverse needs of participants, ensuring they can enjoy the benefits of sports in a safe, understanding, and inclusive environment.

“The program encourages children of all abilities to come together, fostering friendships and reducing social isolation, while promoting acceptance and inclusion. Our goal is to create an environment where every child feels valued, capable, and proud of their achievements, no matter their challenges,” stated Commissioner Tucci.
