Greenutley The committee is currently under the auspices of Commissioner Dr. Joseph P. Scarpelli and the Department of Public Works.

Township of Nutley’s Go Green Committee comprised of the Mayor and Board of Commissioners, representatives from all five township departments and community members. Formed in 2008, Greenutley is the Township of Nutley’s Go Green Committee comprised of the Mayor and Board of Commissioners, representatives from all five township departments and community members. Through education, events, and activities, Greenutley is raising awareness of the importance of green choices in our everyday lives and providing simple, effective ways for each of us to contribute to the sustainability of our community and our planet, including saving energy, recycling and reducing waste, eating local/organic food, and reducing pollution.

🍂 On Sunday October 25 9am-2pm, join us at our downtown location on Booth Drive for the 20th market of our 17th season, which now runs through November 22, 2026!

🛝 It's Hanger & Bulky Rigid Plastic Recycling Day at the Oct 25 Market! Residents, bring your metal, plastic, and wooden hangers as well as your large, bulky plastic items such as garbage cans, resin lawn furniture, laundry baskets, and children’s outdoor play equipment to the Market 9am-2pm. We know these types of items are difficult to dispose of properly, so this event provides a convenient solution for residents to recycle these materials and contribute to our efforts to reduce landfill waste.

📖 This week, we welcome the Nutley Book Authors group to the Market, featuring Raquel Drosos, Cathy Greenfeder, and Tracy Albanese-Costanza! The group of aspiring and published authors from the Nutley area meets the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 7pm in The Nutley Free Public Library's Stockton Room. Discussions are focused on writing and the business of writing, publishing, and marketing.

🌧️ Due to weather concerns, the Sunday September 20 Nutley Farmers Market is canceled. The History Walk is still scheduled to take place, but will start at Franklin Reformed Church at 9am (go to the office door on the cemetery side to enter). Contact John Demmer, Town Historian of Nutley and David Wilson (facebook.com/davidwilsonfiol) with any questions about the walk.

⛪ Meet at the Market at 9am (in front of the library) for a special History Walk to Franklin Reformed Church, Nutley NJ with John Demmer, Town Historian of Nutley, author David Wilson, and FRC historian Jeff Grieco! You'll visit the historic cemetery where many Nutley notables are buried, then into the buildings rich with history and stories. Learn about this religious and recreational facility that has been the center of life since 1855. This two-hour tour is amplified and takes an ADA route.

ANCHOR offers property tax relief to NJ residents who own or rent property in NJ as their main home and meet certain income limits. This year's ANCHOR benefit is based on residency, income, and age from 2025.

🤩 Congratulations are also in order to the top chefs in our Tomato & Zucchini Cook-Off: Anita Gibaldi won for her zucchini blueberry bread, while Anita Angotti was honored for her vegan zucchini stir-fry.

🍅 First, green thumbs with a knack for oversized produce, enter our Biggest Tomato & Zucchini Contest! Bring your extra-large tomatoes and zucchini to the Greenutley tent for weigh-in 9am-12pm. Winners announced at noon.
🍅 Second, amateur chefs, show off your culinary talents by registering for our Tomato & Zucchini Cook-off! Bring a homemade dish featuring tomatoes and/or zucchini along with your original recipe to the Greenutley tent from 9:30am to 10:30am.
