National Voter Registration Day is September 15th! If you need to register to vote, update your address, or just check your registration, stop by the library and we can help you get it done.

The last day to register to vote in the November General Election is October 9th, so there’s still plenty of time to get registered.

We have voter registration forms available at the library if you prefer to do it the old-fashioned way. We also have public computers you can use to check your voter registration status, update your address, or register for the first time.

Stop by on or any other day that works for you. Get !

📚 Join Us for a Special Library Open House! 📚

We’re excited to welcome local author Rebecca Whitford Ecker to the library on Sunday, September 27, from 2:00–4:00 PM!

Rebecca will be sharing excerpts from her latest book and will be available to sign books and visit with attendees. Books will also be available for purchase at the event.

September is Library Card Sign-Up Month, making this the perfect opportunity to stop by, meet the author, enjoy some refreshments, and get your library card if you don’t have one yet!

Library supplier DEMCO puts out a great calendar each month with simple, early literacy activities for parents to do with young children. You can print your own at the link below, or pick up a printed copy at the library. Put it on your refrigerator to help remind you to spend a little time on literacy each day!

REMINDER: The library has an ongoing book sale. It is available for browsing anytime we are open. Hardcover books are $1.00, softcover 50 cents, and children's picture books are 25 cents. Or you can choose to get a bag of books and pay only $5.00! You never know what you will find, as our inventory changes frequently, so check back often. We even have a cart of free books. Stop by anytime!

Use the Libby app to read ebooks or listen to audiobooks online. You can browse and check them out 24/7 from the comfort of your own home. All you need to get started is your own device (ipad, tablet, e-reader, computer, or smartphone) and your library card number.

How to get started:
1. In your device's app store, find and download the Libby app.

2. Once the app has finished downloading, open it and you will be prompted to add a library. Search for "Nowata" and then choose the option that says "OK Virtual Library."

3. Choose "Sign In With My Card" and choose "Nowata City-County Library" on the next screen.

4. Enter your card number and select "Sign In." If you don't have your card number handy or if you get an error message, stop by the library or give us a call and we can help you.

5. Once you are signed in you can explore the collection, search for your favorite authors, place items on hold, listen to audiobook samples, and more!

If you have any trouble or are nervous to get started, stop by the library. We would be happy to teach you how to download and use the app!

New DVDs have arrived! We will be adding new release titles every couple of months so check back often. DVD checkout is free for library cardholders and library cards are free for Nowata County residents. If you don't have a library card, just bring in your photo ID with your name and address and we will get you set up right away! DVDs can be checked out for 7 days and will auto-renew if they are not on hold.
