Russell Township Fire Department was on fire duty at the Geauga County Fair yesterday and will be back tomorrow evening providing EMS coverage.

Fire departments from across Geauga County are taking turns staffing the fair around the clock. If you’re at the fair, stop by and say hi to the crews!

This week, our crews focused on rope rescue training, practicing low-angle evacuation techniques.

Training like this helps us stay prepared to safely move patients and firefighters through challenging terrain when a traditional approach isn’t an option.

A big thank you to the Ohio Fire Academy for bringing their Fire Behavior Lab (Flashover) Trailer and expertise to Russell Township Fire Department for a regional training event.

After a classroom session covering fire behavior, building construction, hose stream mechanics, and ventilation tactics, firefighters from Russell, Pepper Pike, Kirtland, Munson, and Newbury had the opportunity to experience fire behavior first hand in a safe, controlled environment.

Training like this helps our crews make safer, more effective decisions on the fireground and better serve our communities. 🔥

Continuous training keeps our team prepared, our equipment ready, and our community safer. Members spent time sharpening their pump operations and water supply skills, critical techniques that help ensure a reliable water supply during emergencies where hydrants aren't available.
