Campus Safety plans to test the University’s emergency mass notification system, ND Alert, at 3:20 p.m. today, September 16.

This system engages email, cell phone, and text messaging as well as indoor and outdoor speakers, and push notifications to inform the campus community about an emergency situation.

If you are on campus during the test and do not hear the alert over the public address system, let us know by visiting ntrda.me/ndalert-issues or by contacting Campus Safety at 574-631-9007 or [email protected] by Thursday, September 17.

25 years later, we still remember.

Today, we join the nation in remembering the victims and heroes of September 11, 2001. We specifically honor the law enforcement, firefighters and first responders who put others before themselves without hesitation.

At Notre Dame, our mission comes first. Being a NDPD officer means building real relationships with students, supporting our campus community, and stepping up when people need us most. No two days look the same here: one morning you might be managing gameday logistics, and by the afternoon you’re grabbing lunch with students at the dining hall or helping a rector resolve an issue.

We’re looking for approachable, service-minded individuals. If you’re ready to serve with empathy, integrity, and purpose, we want you on our team. 🤝

GroupMe chats are great for finding study groups or catching up on campus events, but they've also become a hot spot for ticket scams, especially heading into major gamedays and concerts.

Here is how the Notre Dame Event Tickets Scam usually plays out: Someone posts in a group chat claiming to sell tickets to a sold-out event. To build trust, they might send a photo of what looks like a valid student ID. In reality, that photo is usually stolen from a previous victim, and the tickets don't actually exist. Once you send payment through Venmo or Zelle, that money is gone, and the scammer vanishes.

How to protect yourself:

• Stick to trusted sources: The safest way to buy tickets is directly through the official Notre Dame Ticket Office or from someone you know personally in real life.
• Verify before paying: Never send money to an anonymous person in a group chat, even if they show you an ID or a screenshot of "tickets."
• Report suspicious activity: If a deal feels off, don't send money. Report the user in GroupMe and contact NDPD so we can look into it.

If you think you've already been targeted by a scam like this, reach out to NDPD right away 🎟️

September is National Preparedness Month, and while "being prepared" sounds like something people nag you about, it really just comes down to knowing what to do if things go wrong on campus.

Whether it’s severe weather moving through South Bend, a power outage in the dorms, or an actual emergency, having a basic plan makes all the difference.

Over the next few weeks, NDPD and NDFD will drop simple, practical tips you can actually use. Just the steps you need to keep yourself and your roommates safe

🚨First assignment for today: Double-check your contact info in the ND Alert system through InsideND so you never miss a urgent safety broadcast. Students, faculty and staff are automatically enrolled.

Welcome back to campus, Notre Dame community! As we kick off the fall semester, high temperatures and intense humidity are expected to make conditions potentially dangerous over the next several days.

Whether you're walking across campus between classes, hitting a outdoor practice, or working outside on campus, your body takes a hit much faster than you think.

A few quick rules for the week:

• Hydrate early, hydrate often. Aim for about 4 cups of water every hour if you’re outside. Swap the second iced coffee for water, caffeine speeds up dehydration.

• Use the buddy system. Keep an eye on your friends, roommates, and coworkers. If someone stops sweating, seems confused, or gets extremely dizzy, step in.

• Dress for the weather. Lightweight, light-colored, and loose-fitting clothes are key.

• Pace yourself. Save intense outdoor workouts or heavy physical tasks for early morning or after sunset when temperatures dip.

If an employee or student shows signs of heat-related illness, act quickly. Get them to a cool environment immediately. Non-emergency cases can be evaluated at the Notre Dame Wellness Center. For immediate medical emergencies on campus, dial 911 or contact NDPD Dispatch.

Let's keep campus safe this week. 💧
