On Friday, June 12, the Norwood Police Department proudly participated in the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office Chief for a Day Program for the first time.

Our Chief for a Day came from a family with a long tradition of service to the Borough of Norwood, including the Fire Department, Ambulance Corps, Crossing Guards, and Department of Public Works.

We would like to thank Chief Emmeline and her family for their dedication and commitment to our community. We hope you enjoyed your day with the Norwood Police Department!

The members of the Norwood Police Department would like to congratulate Police Officer Julie White on her retirement after 25 years of dedicated service in law enforcement.

Officer White transferred to the Norwood Police Department in 2002, becoming the Borough's first female police officer. She brought valuable experience as an Emergency Medical Technician and quickly became a leader during medical emergencies, providing compassionate care and comfort to countless residents and their families during difficult times.

Throughout her career, Officer White made significant contributions to our community as a DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) and LEAD (Law Enforcement Against Drugs) instructor. In these roles, she proudly represented the department while building positive relationships with students, teachers, and staff within our public schools.

Officer White also served for many years as a member of the Bergen County Rapid Deployment Force, a specialized unit that responds to large-scale civil disturbances, disasters, and other critical incidents throughout the county.

In addition, Officer White became the Borough's first certified Child Passenger Safety Technician. She took great pride in assisting families by ensuring that child safety seats were properly installed, providing parents and caregivers with confidence and peace of mind that their children were traveling safely.

We thank Officer White for her years of service and wish her a healthy, happy, and well-deserved retirement.

While we hope everybody enjoys their long weekend, and unofficial “kickoff to summer” we take this time to remind everyone what Memorial Day is all about. Remembering the brave men and women of our armed forces who paid the ultimate sacrifice for us and laid their lives down for this country. They will always be remembered and honored. 🇺🇸
