Norwood EMS is saddened to announce the passing of ex-Captain and Life Member Larry J. Grassi.

In addition to his many years of service to Norwood EMS, Larry was a fixture of the Norwood community; a founding member and coach of Norwood’s soccer program and in recent years worked as a Crossing Guard in town.

Please keep Larry’s friends and family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

It’s Valentine’s Day ❤️ and there’s nothing we love more than a Saturday night double pull! While the Saturday night duty crew was handling a medical in West Norwood, our second ambulance was dispatched to an additional call in Rockleigh. A second crew responded and both crews caught up to spend some quality time together at Englewood Hospital where both patients were transported.

We are fortunate to have the depth to consistently cover multiple calls across multiple towns we serve, but we are always looking for new members to join our team! Slide into our DM’s to find out more!

Our day crew got into the Halloween spirit, stopping at the Headless Horseman Statue after transporting a patient from town to in Sleepy Hollow this afternoon!

41-MCRU (Mass Care Response Unit) on scene in West Norwood assisting a citizen when their home Oxygen concentrator lost power during a local power outage this afternoon.

Ambulance 41-BLS-1, Chief EMS-1 and Lieutenant EMS-3 were also on scene assisting.

Sometimes, transporting to the hospital isn’t the best choice for a stable patient experiencing an equipment failure. Norwood EMS has the equipment and expertise to handle these types of emergencies and keep our residents safe.

Last Wednesday at our monthly meeting and drill, our members reviewed our two new Stryker LUCAS 3 chest compression systems that were recently placed in service.

The two new LUCAS 3 devices join our existing LUCAS 2, and with this addition we now have these life-saving mechanical CPR devices on all three of our ambulances. With an overall increase in our call volume and the frequency of having multiple ambulances handling calls simultaneously, this ensures our crews always have a little extra help on critical calls no matter which ambulance responds.

We would like to thank the Norwood Borough Mayor and Council for their support with this purchase. This purchase and others like it ensure we have the necessary equipment to continue to provide the best possible care for our residents.

Another busy Monday for our volunteers, and a reminder that when it comes to hospital destinations, our crews don’t play favorites (keep making great, well stocked EMS rooms for the EMS crews though!).

Nothing beats a Jet2 holiday….

Well, that’s only if you haven’t personally witnessed the finest volunteers around, continuing a long-standing tradition of excellence and dedication to Norwood and its surrounding towns.

While we might not be able to save you £50 per person (that’s £200 off for a family of four), we can save you from long ambulance wait times and subpar emergency medical care.

How do we do it? Well, on days like today, we get 9 of our best volunteers together and put all three of our ambulances on the road at the same time, handling simultaneous emergencies!

This evening, ambulance 41-BLS-1 was handling a pediatric trauma call in Northvale when a motor vehicle crash with injuries occurred at Livingston Street and South Ave in Norwood. We are fortunate enough that while BLS 1 was transporting their patient to the pediatric ER at Valley Hospital, 7 additional members responded to the MVC with ambulances 41-BLS-2 and BLS-3, securing two RMAs and transporting 3 patients to Pascack Valley Medical Center.

(Also, what even is £50? Asking for Americans 🇺🇸)

This afternoon, Ambulances BLS 1 & 2 as well as 41-MCRU, 41-UTV-1 and UTV-2 stood by at for the high school graduation.
