We share the sad news of the passing of longtime NHA Commissioner, Ms. Phyllis McDonough on Monday May 4. Ms. McDonough was a great force for public housing residents in Norwood, serving on the NHA Board for 36 years, from 1978 - 2014.
As a member of the Board she helped secure funding for 72 units of Senior/Disabled housing at the site of the former Shattuck Elementary School, where she once attended elementary school and then returned to teach at the same school.
Ms. McDonough was instrumental in the acquisition of 96 units of federally supported Senior/Disabled housing at Brookview Circle, now known as the Kevin F. Maguire Housing Development.
In 2018 the NHA renamed the Nahatan Village Development after Ms. McDonough, now known as McDonough Housing at Nahatan Village.
A strong, brave and kind woman, she will be truly missed.

Celebrate the life of Phyllis McDonough, leave a kind word or memory and get funeral service information care of Gillooly Funeral Home.
