Giving back to your community doesn’t have to be a big commitment, it can be as simple as adding a few extra items to your shopping cart.

This September, The WholeSum Pantry is collecting food and partnering with ShopRite , Lisa Avitabile Knowles and I had the pleasure of helping out. Together, we collected 3 full carts of food and about $100 in cash donations! 🛒🥫

The generosity of our community was incredible, it was such a small commitment with such a BIG impact. Most importantly, it helps support our local pantry while raising awareness about food insecurity right here in our own backyard.

Today, The Norwood Public School Administrator and the Mayor hosted our first 9/11 Memorial Service, marking 25 years since that tragic day. The Board of Education, The Norwood Governing Body, and our First Responders were all present to honor and remember.

It was a somber yet uplifting morning. Hearing our children sing America the Beautiful was a particularly moving highlight for me.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this meaningful remembrance possible. I’m grateful our hometown came together to honor a day we must never forget. 🇺🇸

Today, John and I ask you to pause for a moment and remember September 11, 2001.

Twenty-five years ago, our country experienced an unimaginable horror. Thousands of innocent lives were lost, families were forever changed, and our sense of safety and the world we knew were altered forever.

We remember the victims, their families, the survivors, and the brave first responders who ran toward danger while others were running away. We will never forget their courage, sacrifice, and service.

But we should also remember what happened in the days and weeks that followed. We came together. We stood shoulder to shoulder. Neighbors helped neighbors, strangers cared for strangers, and the divisions that so often separate us seemed to disappear. We were simply Americans, and we were United.

Twenty-five years later, we hope we can find our way back to that spirit of unity and compassion. May we honor those we lost not only by remembering them, but by striving for a more peaceful, compassionate, and United world.

Please take a moment today to remember. 🇺🇸

Twenty-five years ago, our nation changed forever.

On September 11, we remember the nearly 3,000 innocent lives lost on that terrible day, the heroes who ran toward danger, and the families and communities forever changed. We also remember the courage, compassion, and unity that followed.

This Friday, September 11, Norwood Public School and the Borough of Norwood will come together for a 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony on the NPS front lawn at 8:45 a.m.

What a great night kicking off campaign season right here in Norwood at American Legion Post 272!

A big thank you to Bergen County Executive James Tedesco for joining us and helping make it such a positive and energizing evening. Former Councilman John Rooney and I are excited to hit the road, talk with our neighbors, listen to what matters to them, and work hard for the people of Norwood.

We’re proud of our community, optimistic about our future, and ready to get to work! There’s a lot of excitement ahead, and we can’t wait to share it with you.

We are proud to share this letter from Congressman Gottheimer's office. Annie Hausmann raised the Teterboro Airport noise concerns from Norwood Residents directly with the Congressman in March 2026. She then joined a call with the DOT and requested the follow-up meeting with the FAA that is now happening.

Annie continues to show up and follow through for Norwood residents on the issues that affect their daily lives.

Last night we had the pleasure of celebrating our wonderful senior citizens with an appreciation dinner.

Our seniors have given so much of their time, energy, and heart to our community, their contributions continue to make Norwood the special town it is today.

Thank you to La Casa Formosa for the delicious food, and to the staff at Borough Hall for organizing such a lovely evening. We are grateful for all you do to bring our community together!

Barsa Administration failed to disclose Environmental Violations and penalties.

It was revealed at the August 12 Norwood Mayor & Council meeting that the Barsa administration failed to disclose to the public, and to its own Borough Council, for 18 months a New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) violation and fine for operating an illegal solid waste facility at its Hemlock Court leaf composting yard. The Borough itself was named a respondent, jointly and severally liable, alongside its contractor.
A billing investigation by Council Finance Chairman Tom Brizzolara uncovered DEP notices and penalties stemming from a January 16, 2025 inspection. The facility's compost windrows measured up to roughly 33 feet wide and 10 feet high, more than double the 14-foot by 6-foot limit set by the facility's recycling exemption. Windrows that large are difficult to turn properly, and leaves left unturned produce foul odors that attract flies, rodents and other pests.
To reiterate: the DEP action named the Borough of Norwood along with its contractor and the contractor's president, jointly and severally liable. This was not just an action against a private contractor alone. The Borough itself was a respondent.
DEP records show the violations were corrected by February 10, 2025. Even so, the DEP assessed a $4,500 penalty on July 29, 2025. The Borough signed a settlement agreement on January 28, 2026, waived its right to an administrative hearing, and agreed to a reduced penalty of $2,250. The DEP fully executed the settlement on February 12, 2026.
Norwood's Borough Administrator, who signed the settlement, later told a council member in writing that "the Borough was not cited as a violator." The DEP's own documents say otherwise. None of this was communicated to most of the Borough Council, who were completely unaware of the violations, the remediation and the settlement signed by the Borough Administrator.
