*Stage 1 Fire Restrictions:
By order of the San Miguel County Sheriff, Stage 1 fire restrictions will go into effect on Thursday, June 18th at 00:01am for unincorporated San Miguel County. High to extreme fire danger exists.
Under Stage 1 fire restrictions:
*No open fires except for campfires in a permanent fire pit or grate within a recreation site or on private property.
*Gas and Propane Grills are permitted as long as there is an “on-off” switch for flames.
*Charcoal grills are permitted on private property, and gas and propane grills are permitted as long as there is an “on-off” switch for flames.
*No smoking unless in enclosed vehicle or building, or on hardscape areas. Cigarette butts must be fully extinguished and disposed of in appropriate receptacles only.
*No personal use of Fireworks
*No operating combustion engines (such as a chainsaw) without a working spark arresting device and possession of a fire extinguisher.
The Town of Telluride and Town of Mountain Village will also be under Stage 1 fire restrictions as will regional counties including Ouray, Montrose, Delta, and Hinsdale, the San Juan National Forest, and the Bureau of Land Management, including the Tres Rios and Uncompahgre Field Offices.
Decisions to enact fire restrictions are based on multiple federal and state agencies’ weather matrix analysis and assessment of wildfire risk.
San Miguel Undersheriff Nicholas Xavier said, “This action is essential to help protect the just safety of our people and our land.”

We love seeing everyone gather in person, and strongly encourage joining us onsite. For those who are homebound, to-go meals are available.
