Su***de Awareness Walk-a-Thon – Norwood PD Participation & T-Shirt Fundraiser

Norwood Police Department has registered to participate in the Su***de Awareness Walk-a-Thon hosted at Sun Valley High School on Saturday, September 26th, 2026. Our designated hour to walk is from 10:00–11:00 AM, but you are welcome to attend and walk at any time during the event.

We will be selling Norwood PD Su***de Awareness T-shirts at Community Day as a fundraiser, with all proceeds being donated to the event. The cost is $25 per shirt to support su***de awareness
We will be walking in memory of Norwood Police Officer William Manning, who tragically took his own life 19 years ago on August 27th 2007. This is an opportunity for us to honor his memory, support su***de awareness, and stand together as a department and community.

Billy Manning is missed by our entire Department!!!

19 years ago today, we lost a friend, a brother, and an incredible police officer to su***de.

You were so much more than the badge you wore. You were a beloved son, a husband, and a father to two incredible children. You were a coworker who became a friend, and someone who made a lasting impact on the people fortunate enough to know you.

Nineteen years have passed, but time doesn’t erase the ball busting and great memories we had working together. It doesn’t erase the friendship, the laughs, the conversations, or the respect we had for you. Most importantly, it doesn’t erase the place you hold in the hearts of your family, friends, and those who served alongside you. I still wish I had known more and it didn’t have to end that way.

Today, I remember the man behind the badge—a good man, a dedicated police officer, and a friend who is still missed.

I hope your family knows that you are still remembered, still spoken about often, and still loved by the people whose lives you touched.

Rest easy, Billy. You will never be forgotten.💙

Our thoughts and prayers are with Ridley Township's Police Department, family, friends, former colleagues, as they mourn the passing of Retired Captain Scott Willoughby, and all who had the privilege of knowing him during this difficult time.

Thank you for your service, Captain. Your watch may have ended, but your legacy will live on.
