United Way of Mid Rural New York, Inc.

United Way of Mid Rural New York, Inc. We are a local United Way the serves a 4 county region. We proudly serve Chenango, Delaware, Madison and Otsego Counties.

We run our annual fundraising campaign in the fall which supports over 35 programs across our region. The United Way of Mid Rural New York builds partnerships and maximizes resources to improve the quality of life for local residents of Chenango, Delaware, and Otsego Counties. In addition to creating programs to improve the community, UWMRNY raises money to fund grants, which are awarded to organizations and programs which improve income, education, and/or health in the community. The roots of today's organization were first established in 1948 as the Community Chest of Norwich. By 1989 the organization had expanded its reach outside the City of Norwich, and changed its name to reflect its increasing services and support, the name by which it is known today: Chenango United Way, Inc. Starting January 1st, 2023 what was known as Chenango United Way and United Way of Delaware and Otsego Counties, has now combined. This also included a name change to what it is known as today: United Way of Mid Rural New York. Open to the public

💙 Partner Spotlight: The Place 💙

Strong communities are built when young people and families have the support, resources, and safe spaces they need to thrive.

Founded in 1983, The Place has been serving Chenango County youth and young adults through research-based programs that help prepare them for college, careers, and citizenship.

Through the support of United Way of Mid Rural New York, we’re proud to invest in programs that strengthen our communities and promote healthier, brighter futures. 🧡

Together, we can make a difference one young person, one family, and one community at a time.

✨ Thank you to The Place for the important work you do!

Volunteering for a nonprofit organization means giving your time, talents, and energy to support a cause without expecting payment in return. It is about helping your community, strengthening important programs, and making a difference in the lives of others.

Volunteers are more than extra helping hands—they are partners in the mission. Whether serving at an event, preparing materials, sharing professional skills, or helping behind the scenes, every contribution matters. Volunteering builds connections, creates hope, and reminds us that meaningful change happens when people work together.

Two programs we help support rely heavily on volunteer drivers. The need is great in our rural communities. If you can help, see below on a much needed resource for our community members in Chenango, Delaware, Otsego and Madison!

Our fabulous volunteers are at it again! ❤️

Karen Sastri helped assemble Employee Campaign Coordinator packets for our company campaign bags, while Kevin Durgeę and Cara Gennairo began labeling our campaign mailings.

Because of their time, energy, and teamwork, we made tremendous progress in just three days! We are incredibly grateful for every volunteer who helps move our campaign forward—we truly couldn’t do it without you.

A special thank-you to Bassett Healthcare Network and NBT Bank for encouraging and supporting their employees in giving back to our community!

Together, we accomplish more. 💙
