St. Vincent de Paul Place Norwich

St. Vincent de Paul Place Norwich Food Pantry, Soup Kitchen, and Advocacy. St.

Vincent de Paul Place (SVdPP) was founded to meet the basic needs of the poor and homeless in Norwich, CT and the surrounding region. Since 1979, provide food and loving care to the poor and homeless of the Norwich area, regardless of race or religion. SVdPP is consistent with Christian tradition; is non-judgmental; promotes a more independent lifestyle for clients; encourages compassion; and is

sensitive to emergency needs. Our goals at SVdPP are to keep our patrons nourished and as stable as possible in their health, housing, and daily activity, as well as to offer a variety of ways to link patrons to programs and benefits that will lead them toward self-sufficiency. The staff that accomplishes this is made up of three full-time and five part-time employees, who are supported by over 100 active volunteers.

Sometimes volunteering is even better when you bring someone special along! Christopher recently brought his daughter to St. Vincent de Paul Place to volunteer alongside him in our kitchen. Together, they lent a hand preparing food and experienced what it means to spend a little time serving others.

We love seeing families volunteer together. It is a wonderful way to share the importance of kindness, compassion, and caring for our neighbors with the next generation.

Thank you, Christopher, for sharing your time with us and for bringing along a very special helper!

A little local sweetness is headed to our pantry! We recently purchased jars of beautiful Wildflower Honey from Stonewall Apiary, owned by Terri and Dizzy. They generously provided the honey to us at cost, helping us stretch our funding even further for the families we serve.

The purchase was made possible through funding from the State of Connecticut's Local Food Purchase Assistance Program, which allows us to provide locally produced food to our patrons while also supporting the farmers and producers who are part of our community.

It is a wonderful circle of community supporting community. Our patrons receive something special for their pantry shelves, local producers are supported, and grant funding stays close to home.

A heartfelt thank you to Terri and Dizzy at Stonewall Apiary for working with us and helping us share a little local sweetness with our families!

Look at those smiles! Once again, our friends at the Connecticut Sun made back to school a little brighter for children in our St. Vincent de Paul Place families.

Recently, 80 children and their families met members of the Sun at Kohl's for a very special Sunday afternoon shopping spree. The children were able to shop for new back to school clothing and essentials, picking out items that reflected their own needs, tastes, and personalities.

And as you can see from the pictures, the happy faces say it all!

Over the years, the Connecticut Sun have given our families so much more than donations. They have given their time, created experiences, shared joy, and made our children feel special. As their time in Connecticut draws to a close, moments like these remind us just how much their friendship has meant to our community.

To everyone at the Connecticut Sun, thank you for once again showing up for our children and families. We are so grateful for the memories you have helped create and for the kindness you have shared with St. Vincent de Paul Place over the years.

We will miss you more than you know.

What a wonderful way to get ready for a new school year! Recently, 124 children and their families joined us at St. Vincent de Paul Place for a special Back to School event filled with crafts, games, food, laughter, and plenty of fun. From visits with the animals at the petting zoo to a sweet treat from the Norwich Police Department Ice Cream Truck, there were smiles and memories being made everywhere we looked.

Each child went home with a treat bag and back to school items to help them begin the new school year prepared and excited.

None of this would have been possible without our incredible volunteers and community partners who gave their time and energy to make the day so special. Thank you for showing our children, once again, just how much their community cares about them.

The day was also bittersweet as we took a moment to recognize and thank the players. With this being one of the last events we will share with them before the team leaves Connecticut, we wanted them to know just how much their friendship and support have meant to St. Vincent de Paul Place. Over the years, they have brought joy, experiences, generosity, and so many wonderful memories to our families.

Thank you, Connecticut Sun . You have been part of our community and part of our story, and we will miss you.

And thank you to Hartford HealthCare, Uncas Health District, Norwich Fire Department and Emergency Management, Jewett City Savings Bank, Liberty Bank, Dime Bank, and EVERYONE who helped make this a day our children and families will remember!

What a great night for some of our St. Vincent de Paul Place family! A big thank you to the Connecticut Sun for providing tickets for members of our community to attend the Sun vs. Phoenix Mercury game. Grey and Felix were among those who got to enjoy the game, and Grey even had a little extra luck, catching one of the T-shirts thrown into the stands!

They had a wonderful time cheering on the Sun as they came away with a 75–72 victory over the Phoenix Mercury.

As the Connecticut Sun prepare to leave Connecticut, we want to say a special thank you for all they have done, and continue to do, for communities like ours. Their generosity has given people opportunities to experience games, make memories, and simply enjoy a special night out.

Thank you, Connecticut Sun. We will miss having you here in Connecticut!
