Join us August 23 at Kelly Middle School for the Back to School Bash, featuring free backpacks, school supplies, haircuts, food trucks, and more.

🚌📚 Stuff a Bus is back — and East Great Plain Fire Dept is helping lead the charge!

Join EGP and Walmart Norwich this Saturday as we work to fill a school bus with supplies for the kids of Norwich Public Schools. This is exactly the kind of community-first work our volunteer firefighters show up for.

🕘 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
📍 Walmart Norwich, 220 Salem Turnpike, Norwich, CT

Come donate school supplies, grab some Walmart back-to-school swag, and take advantage of free 4x6 back-to-school photos for parents. All donations go directly to Norwich Public Schools.

The members of the East Great Plain Volunteer Fire Company were honored to be invited by UCFS Healthcare to participate in their community event on Thursday, August 6,2026 from 3:30-5:30 pm.

It was a wonderful afternoon focused on children, families, education, and community safety. The event featured free backpacks courtesy of CPCU. Also including books,educational brochures,fire and water safety information, internet safety, kids’ banking and financial education, pediatric vision screening, and many other activities and resources.

Families also enjoyed appearances and activities from Poppi plants, Bay the water safety dog,
Wondr smart lab, Norwich public resource center, Otis library, Rose city learning, Lucy the tooth, Norwich Police ice cream patrol, American Ambulance, and many other community organizations.

Lieutenant Grivois and President Coleman were proud to represent East Great Plain and truly enjoyed meeting all the children and their families

One of the highlights of the afternoon was giving the children and parents an opportunity to learn more about the fire service. They all enjoyed the Interactive Fire -safety materials and getting an up-close look at the equipment on our rescue truck.

Events like this are a great opportunity for our volunteer firefighters to connect with the families we serve while helping children learn important lessons about fire prevention, safety, and emergency preparedness.

The members of the East Great Plain Volunteer Fire Company was proud to participate in this year’s National Night Out, joining our community for an evening of education, engagement, and fun.

During the event, our firefighters demonstrated their skills by performing a vehicle exterication, giving attendees an up- close look at the specialized training and equipment used to safely rescue victims involved in motor vehicle accidents

The Department also provided children with fun, interactive fire safety activities and educational materials designed to teach important fire prevention and safety lessons in an enjoyable way.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to visit us. We appreciate the opportunity to connect with our community and help promote safety while building strong relationships with the residents we proudly serve.

The members of the East Great Plain Volunteer Fire Company were proud to participate in the annual Walmart Touch-A-Truck event alongside the Norwich Police Department and American Ambulance on Saturday June 20,2026

It was a wonderful day of community engagement as children and their families had the opportunity to explore, climb aboard, and discover the many emergency vehicles on display. Events like this help build positive relationships while giving children a firsthand look at the equipment and the dedicated first responders who serve our community.

Throughout the event, we shared important fire safety information by providing children with fire prevention coloring books, escape mazes, educational puzzles, and other fun activities designed to teach valuable fire safety lessons in an enjoyable way.

A sincere thank you to everyone who stopped by to visit, and to Walmart for hosting another successful Touch-A-Truck event. We look forward to continuing to serve and educate our community while making lasting memories for families of all ages.
