ROAD WORK ON PLEASANT ST. BEGINNING JUNE 22ND

The City DPW will be doing manhole and catch basin repairs on Pleasant Street from North Broad to Prospect Street beginning Monday June 22, weather permitting. The repairs are estimated to take 2-3 days, and the street will be open to LOCAL TRAFFIC ONLY in that area. Please plan on finding an alternate route.

Big news for Chenango County!

We're thrilled to announce that Commerce Chenango NY has been awarded $750,000 in funding through New York State Homes & Community Renewal, and it's going straight back into our community.

This funding will help local property owners rehabilitate vacant and uninhabitable spaces, including residential and commercial properties, and convert them into safe, quality, and affordable rental units. Eligible improvements include health and safety upgrades, code violation corrections, accessibility modifications, environmental remediation, and other repairs needed to bring vacant units back up to standard.

Property owners interested in applying for the program can do so directly through Commerce Chenango. We can't wait to get started and bring these spaces back to life for the families and individuals who need them most.

UPDATE: Work will hopefully start next week - April 27, 2026...there is also rain in the forecast next week so we will have to wait and see if it will continue into May.

TRAFFIC ADVISORY:
After requests & discussions, the NYS DOT has agreed to address the road condition on North Broad St. While not agreeing to fully repave North Broad St. this year, they will be doing some milling and paving from Rexford St. to Borden Ave./Sunset Dr. to address the potholes and rough patches. Weather permitting, work is estimated to take place from Monday, April 20th to Friday, April 24th from roughly 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Expect delays, and if possible, take an alternate route.
